Poetry - Zayn Malik Fanfiction

Zayn Malik. He's sweet and caring. Never would he hurt a soul. That's his cover. His dirty past is built of lies and destruction. He finds a girl, a girl by the name of Noel. What keeps them sane? Poetry.

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."   -William Blake

It was the next day, and Sasha and Noel where just getting seated at the diner. They decided to just have a day of fun, no work, no poetry, just fun. They where going to have a nice lunch then walk around the Bradford Mall.

"And here are you seats," the waitress smiled, her arm outstretched in the direction of their booth.

"Thank you," said Sasha. She put down her bag with a stitched American flag across the front.

Soon the two girls where seated, looking across from each other. Today their hair was both down, Sasha's a bit shorter than Noel's. They looked at the laminated menus decorated with elaborate red squares.

"So, how was yesterday's reading?" Sasha said, eyes still glued to the food choices.

"Actually," Noel put down her menu. "There was a cute guy there."

Sasha squealed. Grabbing Noel's hands she said, "Give me details. You might finally have a boyfriend."

"Hold up," said Noel, sliding her hands out of Sasha's. "He can't be my boyfriend. I just thought he had good looks. We probably won't even see each other any time soon."

"You never know," she shrugged. "Anyway, what did he look like? What was his name?" The waitress brought us our drinks, Noel Dr. Pepper and Sasha iced tea.

"Alright he um, had black hair that was made into a quiff. He had a sort of a beard and he had earrings too. That's all I remember. Oh, and his name was Zayn.. uh Malik I think."

She sucked in a breath, her mouth dropping open. "Zayn Malik."

"Yeah... you know him?"

"Know him?" Sasha put her head in her hands, her eyes looking up at Noel. "Here's the story. We once dated.. I don't know, three years ago? Seemed like a total package, everything I wanted. Then I found out, he's mad, freaking insane. When he gets pissed, he hurts people. Badly. Starts fights. Then one day..." she shook her head, taking a deep breath. "I got tired of all his angry outbursts. I said we weren't working out, and starting yelling at him. He... broke my arm."

Noel gasped, surprised at the words she heard come out of Sasha's mouth. He seemed so nice at Rêve de Café. He had that gleam in his eye, that bright smile... but really, he wasn't as he seemed.

"People change," Noel barely whispered. "Can't you forgive him?"

They ordered their food, ate, and when they where out the door, Sasha finally said, "You can't forgive someone you loved."

* * *

The rattle of dishes, the sounds of coffee getting poured, the sound of snapping after poems being performed. It was the next day, and Noel was sitting in her usual seat at Rêve de Café, drinking a light espresso and fiddling with her ring. She wasn't expecting to see Zayn here, but when she saw Zayn sit on the stool of the stage, she didn't know what to feel. She was sort of happy to see him, he was still hot, but she was also a tad bit scared.

Today Zayn's hair was down, swaying to the left. He was wearing a v-neck and jeans, showing off his many unique tattoos. "Hello," his deep voice spoke into the microphone. "Here is my poem called, Feelings."

"All this time I wonder

How these feelings are affecting me

They are bubbling up inside

But I'm the only one who sees.

Maybe I should let them flow

Not wait until I burst.

I can't handle when it comes to show

That who I am really hurts."

Zayn trailed off, staring at his converse. Noel could feel the hurt that was coming off of him, he was obviously in an emotional state. "I'm sorry," he said, running off the stage, pushing the door open to outside.

Noel gasped, suddenly running after him. She opened the door, the warm air hitting her immediately. Zayn was standing against the wall, teeth clenched.

"Zayn," she said, walking over to him. This was the first time Noel and Zayn actually talked. "Are you okay?"

"You're that girl who was here two days ago," Zayn said, taking a deep breath before he spoke.

Noel nodded.

"Look," said Zayn, glancing across the street. "I kind of got overwhelmed. It's just.. I really let my anger out on this girl before. What do you care? You have no idea what I'm talking about."

"Actually, I do."

"I know you're talking about Sasha. She's my best friend. She told me about what you did.. and I still believe you have a bit of kindness in you. You just have to control it."

Zayn bit his lip and shrugged. "I guess," he turned his head to Noel. "Do you want to come to my party tomorrow night? You seem like a pretty nice girl and... I need more people there. Just suggesting."

Noel knew Sasha would kill her if she figured out she was at Zayn's party. She had to find a way to hide it. "Yeah, sure. What time?"

"It starts at ten. Who knows when it'll end," he laughed, and gave Noel the address. "See you there." They both said there goodbyes, and went their separate ways.

"Dear God, please don't let Sasha find out," Noel said as she walked home.
