13. The Healings of a Broken Heart: 012

Saphire's POV:

The next morning, as soon as I got up, I went straight to the room that Aliyah and Aelita were sharing. I was the only one that slept alone since both my room and my bed was too small, so it was just like back at Kadic for me. Andrew and Odd shared a room together since Andrew still had bunk beds. Uncle and auntie slept together as usual and Stevie remained in his.

I remembered at some point in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep and wanted to go over to Stevie and spend the night with him. But, when I finally found the courage to head over there, his dad ended up seeing me and asked me where I was going. I managed to come up with a lie about getting a glass of water, but he followed me down to the kitchen and took a seat at the table.

Apparently he was having his midnight snack. I went back upstairs dejectedly, because I knew if I tried to go anywhere near Stevie's room now, I would be caught. So, I just returned back to my own room and soon I was fast asleep. But, not before making a quick plan for what I was going to do in the morning.

I borrowed some clothes from Aliyah's closet, which she had happily agreed to and asked absolutely no questions at all. After I put on the clothes, I looked uncomfortably at myself in the mirror. It'd had been a while since I've worn a tank top without a huge jacket over it or short skirts without tight underneath it. But, I was doing this for Stevie and since I loved him more than anything else in the world, I was ready to do whatever it took to get him back even if that included wearing skin tight outfits that made me feel like I was trying to imitate Sissi.

I took deep calming breaths and then slowly eased myself out of my room and into Stevie's room. I looked around and noticed that he wasn't there. I heard water running in the bathroom and figured he was in there.

'Well,' I thought to myself. 'That just makes it even better.'

I gulped and tried to smile. As soon as I heard the water being shut off in the bathroom, I sat down on his bed and crossed my legs and leaned back seductively, trying to look as hot as I could.

Stevie walked out of the bathroom with a towel in his hands which he used to wipe away the water in his hair and wearing a pair of faded jeans. He had on no shirt and his muscles looked absolutely delicious.

"Hey, handsome." I said.

Stevie froze then and slowly looked up. His eyes widened as if to say 'whoa' while I just grinned back sexily.

"Saphire?" his voice was full of disbelief.

"Yes?" I replied back, giving him an innocent look.

"Why?" his eyes looked desperate. "What is all this?"

I was prepared for this kind of question.

"Just thought I'd try something new. What do you think?" I slapped my hair back like I've seen Sissi do countless times before.

I smiled when I noticed Stevie staring down at my legs.

"Well, it's um, a-a lot of skin." his voice sounded husky.

I stood up and placed my hand on Stevie's thigh. He snapped his head up and stared at me. I moved closer to kiss him, but he moved back when I got too close.

"Saphire, look," he shook his head and gulped. "When I said that we should see other people, I wasn't kidding."

"Well, I've tried that!" I cried. "But, I ended up falling for the wrong guy and now look what's happened to me!"

"I understand that, Saph," Stevie tentatively placed his hands on my shoulders. "And I'm so, so sorry, but I can't keep going on like this with you. I-I have a girlfriend now."

"Girlfriend?" I froze this time.

'So, it was true?' my thoughts went wild. 'He really did have someone new in his life?'

Stevie nodded his head. "I really am sorry."

"Why-why can't you break up with her then?" I tried a different tactic.

"I-I think I might be in love with her." Stevie answered so quietly, I almost missed it entirely.

I could feel my heart starting to swell up and get close to exploding and felt tears starting to appear at the brim of my eyes before I could stop myself.

I couldn't believe this and I wouldn't.

"But-but, you love me!" I yelled out. Then, lowered my voice again. "Don't you?"

Stevie didn't say anything.

'Why? Why wasn't he saying anything?'

"Who-who is it?" I wanted to know.

Stevie didn't waste any time answering me this time. "Jane."

"Jane?!" I repeated incredulously.

Jane. Stevie's best friend, Jenny's twin sister. I always knew she had a crush on Stevie, but I also knew for a fact that Stevie never saw her as nothing besides the sister of his best friend and always, always had a thing for me. So, why, why the hell was he going out with her now?! How could Stevie possibly choose that plain Jane over me?! I wanted to scream those questions at Stevie, but I couldn't get myself back to functioning again.

"I'm sorry," he said all of a sudden then. "But, I think we should just forget about everything that's happened between the two of us."

"Huh?" I looked up at him to see if he was seriously serious about this. He was. "Fine. Fine, whatever. You wanna forget about me? You wanna forget about all those memories, those times we spent together, all those jokes we shared, those secrets we've confined, and promises..." I gulped. "If you seriously wanna forget about them all, then go ahead, see if I care!" I leaned in close to Stevie and pointed a finger to his chest. "But, if you seriously think that I'll be doing the same, then you're wrong - dead wrong!" My face shattered then, even though my blood was still boiling with anger. "Because I'll never be able to forget all of that - not even if I tried!"

I moved back from Stevie and turned my face away before he could see the betraying tears that were so close to falling down now. I heard footsteps and voices coming from the hall and found the energy to quickly place my hair back in front of my face.

"Whoa." I heard Andrew's voice.

I looked up and saw him standing in the doorway with Odd next to him.

"Saphire?" I could feel both of their eyes on me as I stood there, trying to collect myself.

I snuck one of more glance at Stevie, who stood with his head down and off to the side. I urged him to look towards me, tell me with his eyes that he was kidding about everything and that it was all just a big joke, but he wouldn't even look at me. That was all I needed to gain all the anger back that I had store in my heart and storm out of the room in an angry fit.

"Move!" I shoved between Andrew and Odd and ran back towards my room.

As soon as I got in, I shut the door tight and kicked off the stupid heels and collapsed onto my bed.

'Oh, I can't believe this!' I sobbed. 'How could he do this to me? How?!'

-♥- -♥- -♥-

After what felt like eternity of crying into my pillow, I finally just stopped and pushed myself up.

'Stop it, Saph, this isn't you and you know it,' I reminded myself. 'The real Saph doesn't just give up halfway, not when it comes to her loved ones and especially not if that loved one is Stevie, no way! The real Saph fights back and doesn't stop till she gets what she wants!'

I wiped the worthless tears away furiously with the palms of my hands and smirked, a plan already forming itself in my head.

'I think it's time I've a had a little talk with Jane - personally.'
