I don't want to be yours. I don't want to be anybodies. I want to be me. I want to be Boston. I want to forget about the past and live my life. I want to be noticed but unnoticed by you. Leave me alone, Liam, because this time we really will kill each other. Don't try and find me, because I don't want my memories to haunt me like they happened yesterday. Like Hollywood says, two celebrities never make it out alive. And we are the perfect example.

26. too late mrs. payne

I was getting dressed, getting ready to go and sign the divorce. Liam was already ready, his phone kept ringing but he declined the call every time.

"Who keeps calling you?"

"No one," he muttered.

"Who, Liam?"

"You should call him. I'm sure they're worried."

"What I do," he started. "Doesn't contain them. They don't need to know what I do all the time."

I peeked around the doorframe of the bathroom and towards him. "That's what friends do though. They worry, and therefore they should know."

He exhaled just as his phone started to ring again.

I nodded, "Answer it."

"Hello," he said into the phone and I smiled.

But as my smile grew his face dropped. He lips pursing, he was getting pissed, his fists clenching.

"Louis, they cannot do this! I'm my own person! I don't care about any fucking contract! They better not be here--."

A knock on the door, I looked towards it and begun to go and get it.

"Don't, Bo. Don't answer it."

I stopped and looked back at him. He was off the phone now.

"What's going on?"

"We need to get out of here."

"There's no other way than the front door. Liam, what's going on?"

"Our passports have been suspended. The British embassy is at our door to drag our sorry asses back to England."

He started to grab our luggage, throwing articles of clothing inside the bags.

"Why are they doing this? What have we done?" I didn't understand why the tears were appearing from my eyes.

I saw Liam drop the luggage and come over to me. His hands covering either side of my face, using his thumbs to wash the tears away.

"Shh," he muttered. "They're only doing this because of the jewelry around your finger."

"Then I don't want this. Here," I said as I pulled the ring off my finger. For the last time. "I can't do this, Liam."

"Bo, you don't know what you're saying. I'll take the ring, but I can't change the law. It's too late, Mrs. Payne. Now we need to get out of here."

Everything was happening quickly. The door sounded like it was about to bust in and Liam had bags of luggage over his shoulders.

"Here," I said towards him, "Give some to me."

He handed me a couple of bags and I placed them over my shoulder.

"We'll have to run," he said.

"Liam," I started. "Why do you have to make everything so dramatic? No, we are gonna walk out that door and get on that plane and go back to England."

"Are you sure you want that?"

"We would be stupid if we didn't go peacefully."

He exhaled, "Okay."

We walked closer to the door and within moments Liam's hand was over the doorknob. I felt his other hand wrap around mine. Our fingers intertwining. He turned the knob and opened the door. We were stared down by men in black suits.

One of them--in the black suits--pulled us apart. Soon distance was becoming greater and bigger in between us.

"Bo?" I heard Liam say. "Bo!" He was shouting now. What was going on?

"Liam!" I shouted back. Everywhere I looked there was black. Where was Liam? "What are you doing?!" I shouted to the men in black.

No one replied but all I could keep hearing was Liam shouting my name.
