I don't want to be yours. I don't want to be anybodies. I want to be me. I want to be Boston. I want to forget about the past and live my life. I want to be noticed but unnoticed by you. Leave me alone, Liam, because this time we really will kill each other. Don't try and find me, because I don't want my memories to haunt me like they happened yesterday. Like Hollywood says, two celebrities never make it out alive. And we are the perfect example.

21. ring of diamonds

The sound of sleigh bells woke me that morning. I've been staying at Liam's and we've only wrapped ourselves in each other. Liam refuses to let me out of the house without security, and will not let me use any computers. He said I didn't need to bother with the disrespectful people that haunted the internet.

He was only doing it for my protection, besides I didn't need it anyways. I haven't touched a computer in years while down in South Africa. I've also decided to drop the modeling career, but that didn't stop the designers from calling me asking me to be in their runway show.

I just wanted to be with Liam, that's all I needed. One Direction was in the middle of their European tour. I went where they went, but I wasn't that stupid crazy girlfriend. Liam got me a hotel room and I stayed there. After the show he would come to me all sweaty from the show.

I never expected this to happen in my life. I always thought I would be the girl with a brother who protects a world famous boy band. Or the daughter of the Prime Minister of England. Not all those things and also be the luckiest girl in the world with a boyfriend who just wanted to protect me.

It was the Christmas holiday. The band was on holiday until after the New Year's. The bells coming from outside were loud but I woke with a smile. It had snowed in the past few days and the white fluffy wet snow made the room brighter than what it already was.

I sat up on the bed, and didn't see Liam there. I narrowed my eyes, but got out of the bed. I wore one of his tee shirts. My underwear just hardly visible from the bottom. I stretched and then peeked through the curtains and saw gentle, delicate snowflakes fall from the clouds.

I smiled as I went to the door. The smell of hot chocolate filled my nose as I reached the hallway. Going towards the living room, the smell got heavier. When I reached the living room, my face was greeted with the brightness of the lights from the Christmas tree. My eyes followed the lights and then towards Liam in the kitchen.

He was smirking at me with a mug of hot coco in his hands. He wasn't wearing a shirt and I bit down on my bottom lip.

"Stop looking at me like that." I let my fingertips run along the smoothness of one of the reflective Christmas ornaments.

"Like what?" I heard him say, then the sound of the mug colliding with the countertop.

"You know," I muttered. "Like--Liam!" I gasped as I quickly felt his arms around my waist. His chin resting on my shoulder.

"Like what?" He pushed further.

"Never mind."

"No, tell me," he hummed against my skin and I soon felt his lips against my neck.

"Like you have a secret. Like you know something, I don't know."

With a simple movement he turned me in his arms. "That's because I do have a secret. A surprise, more a less. Something I've been keeping from you forever."

"Liam Payne," he knows how much I don't like surprises.

"It's just a Christmas present." He smiled as he looked down at me. He turned and went back to the counter. He picked something up but I couldn't see what it was.

When he came back to me. I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't ask for anything, just Liam...and I already have that. I narrowed my eyes as he gave me that mischievous smile that I find so tantalizing.

"Happy Christmas, Bo," he said as he opened his palm and a small black box appeared in the center. The Chanel engraving marked the box, and when I begun to open it the hinges gave small squeaks, screaming new.

I looked at Liam as I opened the box and gave him a small smile as I looked back down at the open box. My smile vanished, my breath caught in my throat. I looked back up at him with my mouth slowly dropping open.

But before I could continue Liam was already dropping to his knee. He took the box from my hand and inside retrieved the pink rose gold plated ring, with an eternity of diamonds from the box.

"Boston." Oh no. "Please-."

"Liam, I can't." I can't let him continue this, I couldn't hurt his pride. I'm just not ready. "Liam," I started again. "I'm not ready for this."

He smiled again, but didn't get up off his knee. "I'm not proposing, I'm promising."

"What?" I was awfully confused.

"Boston, I promise to love you forever and ever. I won't let anything harm you and will always be your shield. This is my promise and I present that promise with this ring. I promise to one day take your hand in marriage, if you will let me, and let you be my bride, my lover, my forever."

The tears, oh I could feel the tears.

"Do you accept my promise?"

It took me a few seconds but I smiled as I shook my head. "Of course." He placed the ring on my finger and stood up. His arms wrapping around my waist as he twirled me in the air.

So this is what happiness feels like. This is what love feels like. This is what a few thousand pound Chanel ring feels like wrapped around my wedding finger.

But I like it.

Oh how I like it.
