Poems of a Bygone Time

These were written during a time in my life when I was quite smitten with a certain young woman.
They were written in a dark basement, usually late at night, when I felt most lonely and desired that loneliness to end.
It only ended when she said she wasn't interested.
When I found that she wasn't interested, and I stopped chasing her, the one that'd been chasing me finally caught up.

My heart wanders when I hear her voice,
It leaves my body not by choice.
It goes in search of the angelic song,
though it knows what it does is simply wrong.
It searches in spite of losses it has had,
for this simple tune makes it again feel glad.
It makes it feel as if it is complete,
and not covered or masked in deceit.
My heart is black for what is does,
but her touch restores it to what it once was.
She brings it back to a time of joy,
when things were simple, not tangled in a ploy.
When I see her face, ever pristine and divine,
I weep, for it can never be mine.
But it is she that I will always adore,
for no other can send a wave of glee,
by simply looking at the fool that is me.
