1. I Looked Like Me Once Again

I was so excited to see him. I really thought I loved him. I thought that after his trip, he would have changed... but he didn't.

That's what I realized while laying on a dirty floor. I guess Jake will never change, he will always be the heartless monster that I have come to know. Why did I ever fall for this man? I guess I was just fooled by his good-guy act.

I'm so stupid! I thought as I pulled my weak, bruised body up off the floor. "Fuck you, Jake!" I hissed as I stormed out of his disgusting flat.

I held my head up high as I moved through the busy London streets, all the way back to my flat. I don't care what he does anymore! It's not my problem now!

For the first time since I met Jake, I felt free. Like I didn't have to worry about what I did or what I say, just in case I upset him, which would have caused a extremely painful beating.

I jammed my key into the lock and swung the door open. It hit the wall with a loud thump. Oops, did I really open it that hard? I swiftly closed it behind me as I stormed off to my room. I tried to keep my head down but I couldn't help but look up when I saw Clover and Aaron sitting at the kitchen table.

I can't take it! I thought as I sped up my pace and hurried into my room, locking the door behind me. Why did I have to be stuck with him? Why can't I be loved by a guy like that? I thought to myself as I remembered all the nice things Aaron has done for my best friend.

I broke down. There and then. Sobbing quietly as a stream of tears leaked down my pale skin. I let myself go.

After about a half hour of crying I pulled my aching body up off the floor and waddled slowly over to my bathroom. Once safely inside, I ran the hot water till it was filled to the top.

I gently laid my body into the water and started on my long forgotten, broken-hearted routine. Starting with pulling myself together and forgetting EVERYTHING to do with him.

I gently scrubbed at my body till I was sure I was as clean as I could get. I jumped out and wrapped a fluffy white towel around my dripping body.

A padded into my room and into my wardrobe looking for one outfit in particular. One that I haven't worn since I found him. I rooted around at the back till I finally found it. I pulled the floral top over my head and pulled up my skater skirt, tucking in the top. I pulled on my old Cork varsity football jacket and tied my hair up into a sleek pony-tail.

I looked in the wall length mirror and smiled. I no longer looked like the biker chick Jake wanted me to be. I looked like me once again.
