4. Bittersweet

I got out of the shower and put my hair up in a ponytail. I wrapped my towel around me and went into my room. None of the girls were there, so I assumed they were eating breakfast. I looked at the clothes Amanda had put out for me: black skinny jeans, yellow DC's, yellow shirt with a collar, grey vest, red bow tie, and black & white suspenders.

You may think: Either Amanda did that as a joke or she has no fashion sense.

Well, you're wrong.

I wear outfits lie this all  the time. Honestly. I love bow ties, I mean I'm obsesses with them. Almost every outfit I wear either has a bow tie or suspenders.

Now you may say that I have no fashion sense, but I love colors and mix-matching them. It gives me a way to express myself and my mood. Another thing that makes me who I am.

I quickly put on the outfit and looked at myself in the mirror. After approving, I walked out of my room. I followed the sound of talking and laughter and found found my friends in the kitchen. A smile quickly plastered itself on my face as I made myself breakfast and tried to fit into their conversation.

"--but just strap a few ducks on top of the car, find a way to make them "quack" when you do a certain signal, and you'll have a cute but effective siren" said Risa.

Scratch that. I really don't want to know and I'm definitely not asking. I walked to the table where everyone was seated and plopped myself in between Cheyenne and Jessica.

"Good Gravy, Jessica, how much did you leave for everyone else?" I asked shockingly, comparing her ginormous mountain of 12 pancakes to my speed bump of 2.

"ey, yo eyes at lie oo ever een be e beh or." she mumbled with a big chunk of pancake in her mouth.

"Uhm, I don't speak pancakeian" I said with  a giggle.

" I said you guys act like you never seen me eat before," she reexplained after swallowing.

"Much better," I said.

Ten minutes later, we all had finished eating and washing our dishes. We all headed back to my room to gather our bags and move them to the living room where my dad awaited to put them in the car.

45 minutes later, we arrived at the airport and unpacked our bags from the trunk. The girls headed towards the entrance of the airport after saying their goodbyes to my parents. I came up to the passenger side window where my mom was sitting.

"Alright guys, I'll see you in about 6 months which is our first vacation. I said

"OK," my mom choked out.

"Awww, mom, don't cry, because then I'll start and that'll just be a mess."

"I know, I know." she said while taking a big breath and wiping away a few tears. "OK, but before you go you're father and I got you a few presents."

"You guys didn't have to"

"No, you deserve it," my dad said.

I opened the box he handed me through the window.

"No way," I said almost out of breath. "Really?"

They just nodded and I hugged my mom and ran over and hugged my dad squealing over how happy I was. The iPhone 5 was one of my all time dreams, but I didn't think they knew I wanted one.

"All your contacts are already in so don't have to worry about anything."

"YAY!" I screeched. I  was so happy to be holding my new cell phone.

"Oh, and here are tickets to a concert so you'll have something to do before school."my mom said.

"Thank you, guys, so much. I love you!" I said putting the envelope in my pants pocket.

"We love you, too, baby girl." said my mom already tearing up again. "You better go before you're friends are worried."

"OK," I said while giving each of them another hug and kiss.

I headed towards the entrance of the airport. I turned around and waved while they pulled off down the street. I walked into the airport where I saw my friends waiting for me. I walked over to them and Jessica asked what I had in my hand. I looked down to see that I was still holding the phone in my hand.

Then I broke down and cried.
