All Part of the Job

Kayden Storm is a small town girl that was never taught how to love. She has so much wrong about her that no one seems to understand and she usually ends up being a loner. That is, until she meets Niall Horan. Can he help her face her demons? Or will her secrets be too much?

1. Who said phone calls couldn't save lives?

"Hello?" I answered the phone, a bit out of breath after running for it.
"Kayden Storm?" A female voice asked.
"It's Norma, from Modem Management. I'm calling in regards to the interview that you had a few days ago." Norma said and my breath hitched in my throat. This was it, the moment I'd been waiting for. It was this job or back to... No I couldn't even think about it. I just really needed this job.
"Yes? I remember that interview..." I held my breath and closed my eyes.
"I'm calling to let you know that you were selected for the job and that we would like you to come in tomorrow morning at 8:30 am to meet your new employers." Norma said simply and all I could do was let silent tears fall down my cheeks.
"Definitely. Tomorrow morning. 8:30." I managed to get out. She quickly said goodbye and hung up.
All I could do for a few minutes was sit there and take in her words. "If you could see me now..." I thought out loud, thinking of that-NO. I can't go back there, no matter what happens. I shook my head to clear it and decided that I would turn in early to be ready for tomorrow.

I got up early and was on my way to the office at 7:45, being as it'll take me a bit to get there and I still haven't gotten used to London yet. When I got to the waiting room, I became conscious of the secretary looking at my clothes and knew that she could was wondering why they were loose on me. I wanted to crawl into a hole and just not be here, but I knew how much this meant to me.
"Mrs.Storm? They told me to show you to a conference room and to tell you that they will be there in a few minutes." The young secretary smiled and led me into a room that was easily 4 times bigger than my apartment. "Thank you." I smiled and took a seat in a chair. After a few minutes of wondering what it will be like to be a personal assistant for someone, a man walked into the conference room and ripped me out of my thoughts.
"Oh I'm sorry, I must have the wrong room." He looked surprised and started heading back to the door.
"Can I ask who you're looking for?" I asked, surprising even myself.
"A Mrs. Kayden Storm. I'm sorry for intruding." He opened the door but the words were out of my mouth before he had the chance to leave.
"I'm Kayden storm sir. Pleased to make your acquaintance." The man turned around and looked at me with wide eyes.
"Oh..... Sorry mrs. Storm. I was expecting someone older."
"And I was expecting someone with more hair, but I'm not complaining." The words came out of my mouth faster than I could stop them. Automatically, I blushed and started to apologize. For a while all the man did was look at me. Then suddenly he started laughing and sat down in the chair next to me.
"I can tell now that you'll be perfect for the job. The name is Kevin Herbert. Nice to meet you mrs- I mean Ms. Storm." I reached out and shook the hand that he was offering me.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Herbert." I smiled as best as I could under the pressure.
"Please, Call me Kevin. Now Ms. Storm, I see today is your first day of work. I would like to first off congratulate you on your getting hired at Modem Management. Now I would like to show you some important documents that need to be filled out.."
After all paperwork was filled out, Kevin turned to me.
"Only 19 years old? What an age. You'll fit in just fine with your bosses." Kevin smiled and looked at his watch. "Who happen to be late. See, this is why we're getting them a personal assistant. They're always late." I laughed and Kevin rolled his eyes as his phone went off.
"Excuse me. Hello?" He answered his phone. "Where in heavens name are you lot? I told you 9:15 SHARP."
He made some faces as he listened to the person in the other end of the call.
"Fine... Fine.... YES.... I JUST SAID YES... Here in 5 minutes.... No. I said 5..... You said that last time..... I'm your manager you know..... Don't make me tell Simon on you..... ALL of you....No, usually they are- d-did you just ask me that?... Really? No, I will not tell you. You'll see when you get here in 5 minutes.... 5!...Goodbye." He ended the call and turned to me.
"Thank goodness that you'll be in charge of that in about.... Well whenever they decide to show up." He sighed and shook his head. As soon as he shook his head, the door opened.
"Don't just stand there Louis! How long does it take to open a door?!" A voice said.
"Don't rush me Zayn. I scuffed my shoe in the lobby, and I have to make sure it doesn't happen again." Someone answered.
"I hope she's hot.Or young. Both would be great. Or is that too much to ask?" Another voice said.
"Harry... We don't even know if its a girl."
"Liam. Liam. Liam. Liam. Liam." Another one said.
"What?!" The voice that must be Liam yelled.
".....Liam." The same voice that was saying it before said simply. I giggled into my hand and Kevin looked at the door, where they still hadn't come in, and ran his hands through his hair.
"Niall....just eat your food before I-"
"BOYS! GET YOUR BUTTS THROUGH THE DOOR AND DONT MAKE ME COME OUT THERE!" Kevin thundered, hushing them and scaring me so bad that I started hyperventilating and didn't even notice them come in.
"Ms.Storm?! Are you all right?! Ms.Storm!! BOYS. Get help quick!" That was the the last thing I heard before everything went black.
