A Thief In The Night

1. A Thief In The Night

A thief in the night,

As the wind howls in grief,

He goes about his bidding,

Creeping under floorboards,

Silent as the moon above.

In his swag be not jewels,

Stars and rings of gold,

But unsaid words,

Unfulfilled dreams,

And lost trains of thought.

One stealthful swipe of speech,

And his deed is complete,

He goes unnoticed,

Yet the consequences far from.

Some, desperate for what they once knew,

Reclaim their possessions,

Though brave they are,

Others sit in pools of sorrow,

Wondering what the thief desired with their words,

Those words that shall never pass their lips,

A thief in the night.
