Muggle-Born and Proud

*FINISHED* Lola Xavier thought she was normal. But ever since she was a baby, her family realised there was something strange about her. Whenever she cried, her pacifier came to her. Whenever she was hungry, her bottle would fly across the room. By age three, she was doing everything without using her hands. Now age 11, Lola receives a letter, by no ordinary means of messaging, but by owl, telling her that she was a witch. Lola must be trained in the magical arts, she is given a week. If she can successfully make it through that week, she will be able to continue her magical training, if not, everything goes back to the way it was.

1. A Letter, By Owl?

Lola's POV

We were sitting at the table about to eat our breakfast, when we heard a tap at the window and a loud screech. We turned to look, and all stared open-mouthed at the owl perched on the windowsill.

I was the first to snap out of the trance. I walked to the small window over the sink and opened it. The owl had a small pouch tied to its leg. I open it and take out a folded letter.

Once the letter is unfolded I read the loopy green handwriting.

I give my parents a confused look, but clearly knowing nothing more than I do, they shrug. I carefully peel the wax seal off and take out a letter in the same loopy handwriting.

Dear Ms. Xavier,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You will find an enclosed list of supplies for the upcoming year. Term starts on the first of September. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress

I began to look through the supply list and found all sorts of things that I knew I would never find in a store.

First-year students require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)

2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear

3. One pair of protective gloves (dragonhide or similar)

4. One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings)

Please note that all should have name tags.

Each student should have a copy of each of the following:

The Standard Book of Spells (Grade 1) by Miranda Goshawk

A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot

Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling

A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch

One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore

Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenus Jigger

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander

The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble

1 wand

1 cauldron (standard size 2, pewter)

1 set of phials (glass or crystal)

1 telescope

1 set of brass scales

Students may also bring if they desire and owl OR a cat OR a toad.

The owl was still at the window, so I wrote a note in an untidy scrawl, explaining that I had no idea where to get the supplies, and would like some help. I then tucked it securely into the owl's pouch and he flew off.

I guess there's nothing left to do but wait.
