PART 1: STOLE MY HEART <3   "So today's the day, huh?"   I turn to look at Iliana, confused. "What do you mean?"   "Today's the day One Direction is coming! Did you forget already?"   I blush. "Umm... Sorry. I just totally lost track of time right now."   Iliana shakes her head disappointedly. "I can't believe you forget the most important day of our lives, Cynthia. What's up with you?"   I let my long brown hair out of its bun, running my fingers through it to untangle it. "I guess I'm just a bit nervous. I'll wait for you at my house at eight."   Iliana nods. She shifts her weight to her right foot, her head bobbing from side to side as her earphones blare a 1D song. I think it's 'Live While We're Young'.   The school bell rings and we hug each other before heading off to class. I spend the whole day doodling and writing in my notebook.   -------------------   Finally, eight p.m. comes around. I don't know how I convinced my parents to let me out late on a school day, but at least I could go.   I wore my favorite pair of skinny jeans, some black Vans, and a navy Aeropostale shirt with neon letters on it. Iliana rings the doorbell right on time.   I run downstairs to open the door and reveal a picture-perfect, model-looking Iliana. She had a jean colored mini-skirt, black netted leggings, and a black t-shirt. Her blonde hair was curled and her make-up impeccable. I felt simple next to her, but I always felt that way.   "Ready to go?"   I nod, tucking my phone in my pocket and yelling out a quick 'Bye Mom, love you!' before leaving.   We settle for taking Iliana's BMW instead of my VW Beetle. After a half-hour drive, we arrive at the Maverick Center in West Valley where One Direction was going to perform. We park the car in the first available parking spot and run into the Backstage Entrance.   We had Iliana's uncle to thank for the passes, since he was a big annual donator to the Arena.   Iliana and I flash the passes to the security guards and they let us pass.   ___________________   They heard the loud screaming before they saw the huge crowd. The boys huddle together to give each other good-luck hugs.   "No flirting with anyone, Harry, or I won't hug you ever again," Louis jokes.   "Tell Niall too. Last time, he promised that fan in Chicago to call her and he never did," Harry complains, shaking his hair to fix it.   "Cuz you deleted her number," Niall retorts.   "That was Liam's fault!"   Liam glares. "Why do I always get blamed for everything?"   "Cuz it's usually your fault," the rest chime in.   "You hid my Pokemon game and blamed Harry," Zayn bickers. "And you lost my mirror!"   "Let's hear it for One Direction!" an announcer interrupts, and the whole crowd goes berserk.   "I guess that's our cue, lads," Zayn smiles. Together they walk out to the stage.   _____________   Everyone screamed when the band walked out to the stage. Even I screamed.   We were in front-row seats, right next to the stage.   "You're insecure, don't know what for. You're turning heads when you walk through the door. Don't need make-up to cover up. Being the way that you are is enough."   All the girls went insane when Liam started to sing. Iliana grips my arm, screaming her lungs out.   Harry raises his mic. "Everyone else in the room can see it, everyone else but you."   The boys sing the chorus, and, of course, all of the girls sing along.   Next comes Zayn. "So come on. You got it wrong. To prove I'm right, I put it in a song. I don't know why you're being shy and turn away when I look into your eyes."   At that exact moment, his eyes look into mine and I look away, embarrassed.   The rest of the song goes on, the girls even sing the 'na na na na' part, but I can't forget Zayn's gaze. Couldn't shake it off.   After that, they sang 'One Thing', then 'Up All Night', and during Zayn's verse I feel myself tremble.   "Don't even care about the table breaking, we only wanna have a laugh. I'm only thinking 'bout this girl I'm seeing, I hope she'll wanna kiss me back," he sings, but it seems like he's looking at Iliana, not me.   When the song ends, they take the time to talk and greet the audience.   "How are you, Utah?!" Harry yells. The girls squeal loudly.   "Hold on a second, girls," Zayn speaks up. He beckons for the guys to form a huddle and they begin to whisper. Soon, they break apart, smiling.   "We know you girls know our songs, so we'd like to ask one lucky lass to join us onstage," Niall begins.   "Raise your hand if you wanna come on up!" Louis shouts, and immediately every hand goes up.   "Raise your hand, Cynthia! You sing great!" Iliana encourages me. My heart beats rapidly, and I do as she suggests because, seriously, I had no confidence that I'd be picked.   The boys scout through the crowd until Liam picks.   "You!" he says, pointing at me.   I stare in shock, and Iliana has to prod my ribs to make me react. I follow Liam up to the stage and all the boys surround me, except for Louis who went for another microphone.   "What's your name, sweetheart?" Harry asks me.   "Cynthia Morales."   "That's a pretty name," Niall says. "How old are you, Cynthia?"   "Seventeen," I say a bit more confidently. They made me feel calm.   "Are you from here?" Zayn questions.   I nod, unable to speak.   "What song do you wanna sing?" Louis asks, handing me my mic and wrapping his arm around my shoulders.   I was feeling too shy to talk. I must have been annoying them with my short responses. "'Little Things'," I blush.   The crowd cheers and the music begins to play.   "Zayn will cue you when it's your turn," Liam says.   They spread out around me in a circle, my heart pounding in my ears, and they start.   Zayn grabs my hand, making the girls scream. "Your hand fits in mine like it's made just for me. But bare this in mind it was meant to be. And I'm joining up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks and it all makes sense to me."   He lets go, takes a step back, and lets Liam walk up to me.   "I know you've never loved the crinkles by your eyes when you smile; you've never loved your stomach or your thighs, the dimples in your back at the bottom of your spine but I'll love them endlessly."   Zayn takes his earlier position, a smile on his face. "I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth. But if I do, it's you, oh it's you they add up to. I'm in love with you and all these little things."   There's shrieking when Zayn lets Louis in in his place and the first thing he does before singing his part is kiss my cheek, forcing the live music to pause.   "You can't go to bed without a cup of tea. And maybe that's the reason why you talk in your sleep. And all those conversations are the secrets that I keep though it makes no sense to me."   Harry's next, and he starts a playful competition with Louis by hugging my waist.   "I know you've never loved the sound of your voice on tape; you never want to know how much you weigh. You still have to squeeze into your jeans but you're perfect to me."   Zayn points at me and the music even stops for a second. I quickly clear my throat and sing the best I can, putting all of my emotion into it.   "I won't let these little thi-i-ings slip out of my mouth," I chime an octave higher than the original song tune, and everyone goes silent; even the boys gawk at me. I continue. "But if it's true, it's you, ohhhh it's you they add up to. I'm in love with you, and all these little things."   The crowd starts making the loudest noise ever heard, and there's a lot of clapping. Niall bows as he approaches me and sings, "You'll never love yourself half as much as I love you. You'll never treat yourself right, darlin', but I want you to. If I let you know, I'm here for you, maybe you'll love yourself like I love you. Oh..."   Harry bumps Niall out of the way. "And I've just let these little things slip out of my mouth. Cause it's you, oh it's you, it's you, they add up to. And I'm in love with you, and all these little things."   Together, we sing the last verse, and we even hold each other's hands, me grabbing Zayn's and Niall's. "I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth, but if it's true, it's you, it's you they add up to. I'm in love with you, and all your little things."   I hear Iliana shout, but her scream gets lost among the other 10,000 girls' yells.   "We all have to admit, Cynthia, you have an incredible voice," Harry says to me.   "I don't know, lads, but I think we'll have to keep her up here the rest of the night," Zayn smirks.   Niall turns to face the fans. "What do you girls think?"   They all yell their approval.   "Then that's that. Why don't we sing 'Live While We're Young'?" Liam asks. I nod, grinning.
