Two Friends. One Dream.

Two best friends Alyssa and Julia are in love with One Direction. When they see their concert, their lives chage for the best and everything is perfect. They fall in love and start to live their lives as 19 year olds should.

47. Her Heart Is a Rodeo

**Louis' P.O.V.**

I felt terrible for Alyssa and I hated to see her cry. She was such a strong person and to see her like this didn't feel right. We were laying in bed and I watched her sleep. She looked so young and it she had a little smile on her face while she slept. I had my arms around her and I couldn't believe that we were together.

It seems like yesterday when we met.

We just got done singing and it was time for Twitter questions. 'Niall can we have a Horan Hug? Section 224X Row 15 Seats 17 and 18' I read out to the stadium. We looked for the two girls that sent the tweet and we found them. We said hi and then continued. Harry read the next tweet and it was from the same girls. We all replied and after we told them we loved them too, I ran off stage to get Paul and ask him to bring the backstage passes. That was the best decision of my life because that was when I fell in love.

After the concert, I started talking to the girl with the brunette hair and found out her name was Alyssa. I also found out that she lives on a farm with horses, cows, goats, and chickens and we made plans to hang out the next day. We started talking and that's when I started falling in love with her and I never wanted to let her go.

A few months later, our relationship grew and that was when I popped the question. She's my best friend and her family and my family seem to get along. They talk over the phone and they like each other. I had to go away for a little bit and my sisters came over for a few days and learned hoe to ride. To this day they can't stop talking about it. I couldn't believe this amazing and kind girl was mine.

**Flashback Over**

While thinking, I felt her stir next to me. Her hazel eyes opened and she looked up at me.

"Good morning," I said whilst smiling at her.

"'Morning," she smiled back. She nestled her head into the crook of my neck. I rubbed her back and sang to her. I looked back at the clock and it was 5:55 AM.

"Go back to sleep babe," I told her. I felt her breathing slow down which meant she was already asleep. I started singing a slow version of 'She Will Be Loved' by Maroon 5.

Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else

I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times but somehow
I want more

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will be loved

Tap on my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore

It's not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along, yeah
My heart is full and my door's always open
You can come anytime you want

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved

I know where you hide
Alone in your car
Know all of the things that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at all
Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls

Tap on my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved

Please don't try so hard to say goodbye
Please don't try so hard to say goodbye

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Try so hard to say goodbye

After I was done singing, I started to drift off back to sleep. I still had my arms wrapped around her and her head was still resting in the crook of my neck. I couldn't believe she was mine and to think it all started with a Twitter Question.

**Next Morning**

**Alyssa's P.O.V.**

When I woke up the next day, it was around 7:30 and Louis was still asleep so I quietly got out of bed, got dressed, grabbed my boots, walked out of the door, and into the barn. Tundra was in his stall so I grabbed his bridle and brushed him off a little bit. After I was done brushing him off, I put his bridle on and led him to the ring to warm him up and stretch his muscles. When we were done, I took him out to the back field and down to the creek for an early swim. When we were swimming, I kept hearing something moving in the bushes so we left quickly. I looked back and it was a Mountain Loin. It looked up at us from the bush and than ran away back into the forest. That's when we left and ran back home as fast as Tundra's legs could carry us.

When we got back, my mom was feeding the horses and saw the terrified look on my face.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Mom, I saw a Mountain Loin! It was there and th-"

"Where did you see it?" She cut me off.

"Back by the swimming hole," I replied. She pulled out her phone and called Animal Control. She told them what I saw and then hung up.

"They think it escaped from a nearby zoo so they're going to find it, tranquilize it, and bring it back to the zoo," she told me. "Until then," she continued. "No more trail rides,"

"WHAT?! That's not fair!" I exclaimed.

"Do you want you or Tundra to get killed by the lion?"

"No but we love the trails," I replied with a sad tone.

"Well then you'll have to love the ring," she said. She walked away and finished feeding the horses. I hosed Tundra off, then I led him to the big grassy area to dry off while I held the lead that was connected to him (a.k.a. hand grazing). When he dried off, I stuck him back in his stall. It was about 8:00 so I went back to bed where Lou was still asleep. Lazy bum.

I crawled in next to him and he immediately woke up.

"Alyssa, I love you, but you smell," he told me with a smile.

"Get used to it babe," I replied back. I laid down and fell back asleep for about an hour until I felt jumping on the bed. I looked and it was my older brother and twin sister. I smacked them with a pillow.

"It's breakfast time!!! Wake up! You have to get up!" The continued to say and jump on my bed.

"Okay okay, we're up," Louis mumbled. They laughed, jumped off of the bed, and then ran out of the room. We got out of bed and Louis picked me up bridal style. We walked down the stairs and into the kitchen where everyone is was looking at us. He put me down and I walked to the counter to fix my plate and his plate for breakfast. We were having pancakes, eggs, and sausage. I took the plates to the table and sat in between my brother Greg and Louis.

"So I heard you're getting married?" Greg whispered to me.

"Yeah in like a year," I replied whilst showing him my ring.

"Did you get your dress yet?" He asked.

"Yeah but it's back in the Yorkshire. We technically live there. It's like 20 minutes from Lou's mom's house and we see them a lot," I told.

"Wait... what do you mean you live there?"

"The house we rented was ours the whole time and a few days ago Lou told me he bought it so we have a house to live in over there," I told him.

"Wow," was all Greg could say and when he said that, Julia, Niall, and the rest of her family walked in.

"Morning everyone!" Mike, Julia's brother, exclaimed.

"Morning Mike," Greg exclaimed. The two best friends started talking and the rest of our guests started talking.

"Attention everyone. I have an announcement,"  My dad exclaimed. He got up from his food and he had his hat on his head. "I wanted to say that Alyssa, your mother and I know you've been wanting to go back to the shows so we are taking you to the game show tonight. I know you can do it with Tundra so that's why we are taking you and I will be going," he said. I got up from the table and ran over to my dad to give him a hug and a kiss. I ran out to the barn and started to get my stuff together. We had to leave by 2:30 and it took about an hour to get to the show.

I looked at my watch and it was 10:30. I hauled ass to get my stuff together.  I got by brushes from the tack room along with my good barrel saddle, show bridle, extra stirrups, breast plate, my black leg wraps with the yellow cancer awareness ribbon, and my yellow cancer ribbon awareness saddle blanket I bought with Louis. I also grabbed Tundra's bronco rope halter. When everything was in the barn, I went into the house to get my show clothes.

"Julia! I need your help!" I exclaimed. I heard her get up from the couch and met me at the bottom of the stairs.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"I need help picking my show clothes," I replied.

"What color are you using?" She asked.

"Yellow," I replied. We walked up the stairs and went into my closet. We picked my lucky yellow plaid shirt, Wrangler jeans, my lucky cowboy boots, and my belt with the belt buckle I won a few months ago. It was the show Louis went to. I grabbed all of my stuff, put them on hangers, and took them out to the trailer's dressing room. The truck and trailer was hooked up so I started putting all of my stuff in it except my brushes because I had to brush Tundra off. I grabbed him out of the field and took him to the wash stall and started giving him a bath with the help from Julia.

After the bath, I lead him to the patch of grass near a tree and I sat under it while he stood in the sun to dry off. I was letting my mind wander and then I pulled out my phone to listen to music. I hit shuffle and Dustin Craig's song 'Her Heart Is a Rodeo' started playing. The fiddle was playing and then the words began to be sung.

She's got scars, wounds that never mend
She still cries for Credit Card and what those thieves & cowards did to him
She's been bucked and threw a time or two, landed on her face
But she gets up, dusts off and enters that next race

She keeps hanging on, to the dream she's always known
For the glory, damn the pain, Holds it all within them reins
She is country tough and there's no giving up
From her boots down to her precious Laddie go
Her heart is a rodeo

She plays it to the bone, gives her all, Even when that barrel tips and falls
Taught to always hold that head up high and tall
All leads up to the time they make, with every step that wild horse takes
It's a gamble, she can handle cause He's her leap of faith

She keeps hanging on, to the dream she's always known
For the glory, damn the pain, Holds it all within them reins
She is country tough and there's no giving up
From her boots down to her precious Laddie go
Her heart is a rodeo

That song meant a lot to me. It was my rodeo song and it was the song I sometimes did my run to but tonight I think I'm going to do 'Kiss You' because it was fun to ride to. When Tundra dried off, it was about 11:30 (The bath took about half an hour). I wanted to get there at 2:30 so we would probably start loading Tundra up around 1:00 and leave at 1:15.

**About two hours later**

We pulled up to the booth to enter for the show and told the guy that the 2 cars behind us were with us. He let us through and we parked the trailer. I hopped out of the truck and walked into the trailer to back Tundra out. My dad opened the top doors, then put the ramp down, then undid the butt-bar. I backed Tundra up and then hitched him to the side of the trailer to brush and get him tacked up. My run wasn't until 3:00 so I had about a half hour to warm him up.

I put all of his tack on including his leg wraps. My mom gave me a leg up and I rode to the warm-up ring. My parents, siblings, Julia, Niall, Lou, and Julia's family were watching me as I did my thing. When it was 5 minutes left, I went to get my spot in the chute but before I left, I asked the announcer if I could dedicate my run to my father who is fighting cancer.

"And now we have Alyssa Lake on her horse Hot Hollywood Dunit. She is dedicating her runs for the rest of the evening to her father who is fighting cancer," the announcer spoke. I felt Tundra do the 'barrel horse prance' where the horses just prances in place knowing that we will turn and run.

I dug my spur into his right side and he did a quick pivot. The string that started the timer fell to the ground as we ran out of the chute. The first barrel we went around flawlessly. I nudged him with my left spur and then he bolted to the second barrel. I nudged my right spur on his side as we did a deep turn and then ran to the third barrel. 'This is it Alyssa, last barrel' I thought to myself. I heard 'Kiss You' playing in the background as everyone was silent but I was focusing on my run and horse. As we went around the third and final barrel, I hit his side with my right spur. When we were going straight, I kicked him lightly as I was in a two-point position, butt in the air and holding on to the reins, with every step my wild horse takes we got closer and closer to the end. When we crossed the finish line, the annoncer read out my time:

15.9 seconds. That was the record of the night.

I ran into the chute and calmed Tundra down so I could ride him back to the trailer. My "groupies" were at the gate waiting for me.

"Good job Sis!" My dad exclaimed. He came over to me and hugged me while I was still on Tundra. He kissed Tundra on the nose and then I hopped down. Tundra was breathing hard so I started to walk him back to the trailer.

"We paid for 3 runs of barrels and 2 runs of poles. You have 20 minutes til the next run so cool him off and we'll get ready for the next run," my dad told me. I did what he told me and sponged him off with his tack still on but the girth was loosened so he could relax.

The rest of the night was pretty much the same as the first run. Between the 15 second-17 second time range. We ended up bring 5 blue ribbons. When it was time to go home, I changed into muck clothes, cleaned everything up, and loaded up. We got home around 10:00 and after I unloaded everything, I took a shower and climbed into bed next to Lou.

I wanted to give credit to Louis_tomo_1D for the idea of the horse show! You should read her story 'Meeting Him'! It's amazing!
