One Direction: The Summer I Met Them

Marilla (nicknamed Rilla) is an ordinary girl, and one who hasn't caught One Direction fever. But one summer she meets one of the boys on the beach and is whisked away in a summer romance. But will she discover who he really is?

1. Just an ordinary day

I was sitting on the beach reading Anne of Green Gables. I loved this book. I especially loved the charcater called Marilla. That's my name. I was named after her. You see, both my parents are lecturers and love books, (a hobby I've inherited) and this was one of their favourites. I love my name. It's so different. It suits me.

Back to the beach. I was sitting on my pink towel that had orange flowers printed on in an hawaiian style. I had a parasoule shading my brunette head, and my straw bag was resting in the sand next to me. I turned the page and continued with the enthralling story. I was wearing an old white bikini. The front was clasped together with a ring of silver revealing a lot of my body I didn't want to show. The bottom part of the bikini felt more like a thong but this was the only cool looking bikini I had and I had to look good at the beach. I could hear the waves crashing and looked up to look at the waves. I gazed through my tortoiseshell shades and watched surfers ride on the waves. It looked amazing. Just the way they stood on theboard as little splashes of water tickled their feet. But not something I would do. Definately not what I would do.

The sand around me was bone white and looked like something out of one of those catalogues where everything looked wonderful. I would have almost thought I was in the Barhamas if it wasn't for the greasy fish and chip shop on the promenade. My mouth started watering as I thought about greasy, fatty chips. Not for me. I'm trying to stay slim for prom. It's in 2 months time and I can't wait. But I still haven'tgot a date. Damn. I've really got to find one! The only problem is I'm not really one of those girls who attracts boys. I've got a good figure, no acne, and I don't coat myself in 5 or 6 layers of make-up so I don't get why boys aren't falling all over me. Now I remember, it's because I hang out with the nerds, geeks, smarty-pants. Well, they're just like me. We have the same hobbies and everything.

I look at my watch and see the time, my parents will start to get worried if I don't get back for dinner. They are quite strict, but I love them so it doesn't matter. I picked up my bag and shoved my book into it and pulled out my flowery maxi dress. I put it on and headed back up the beach towards the busstop. Suddenly there was a screeching of wheels and a screaming of girls and a black hummer limo pulled into the boiling car park. Girls surrounded it trying to catch a glimpse at the people inside. Great, another band I don't even know about. I was pushed roughly over as more girls came running onto the beach from the main road my bag flew out of my hand and landed on someone's castle, but not on the castle. Oh no,in the moat. I sighed, almost in tears. This was a new bag and stupid, screamy, immature girls had ruined it in their excitement.

I picked myself up and walked over to the busstop as I had planned to a second earlier I waited. The sun was hidden behind the tall buildings causing me to shiver and  curse why I didn't bring a jumper. Finally my bus arrived. I hopped on and took a seat. For me, this was just an ordinary day.
