My Writing Diary

This is just the steps I use here, and maybe a few inspiration notes. If you're interested, read it, but if you're not, please don't read it then insult me. :( Anyway, this will refer to other people's movellas, so if you choose to follow these steps with me, you might want to find them. That's all!

82. 8th January 2014

I need to talk. I should be finishing my 500 words for today and then YouTube-bingeing, but I need to talk right now. I can save all the mushy stuff about a glorious new year for later.

If you haven't gathered, whoever you are, my sister is at University. She's had to extend both her third and second year due to illness and is currently in the second part of the latter. At the moment, there's an essay due tomorrow that's she's been working on for approximately two weeks. It was 10,000 words. The word limit? Approximately 3,000. Right now, it's at around 3,350 but the text is really tight and the sentence topics are incredibly difficult to merge.

Now, I'm good with editing (or so I like to think). What's a connective to someone like me, eh? However, my sister has a... Well, I wouldn't call it a very different opinion but perhaps slightly different perspectives on what's appropriate for sacrificing. And, if any of you have ever done something similar, there are no contractions allowed. No, I'm not talking about women in labour. I'm talking about can't and don't and won't... Look it up. I can hear her crying downstairs - that's where I was before I was told my typing was too loud.

Not that I harbour any negative feelings against her about this or anything else. From time to time, sometimes more often than usual, the tension will hit me in the face or I'll feel like I can't do a thing right. Or I get the 'youth is ignorance' impression. I can deal with it and not speak out about it aloud; it either sounds too dramatic or I'm just told I'm being too dramatic.

Who knows...

Anyway, back the actual purpose of this diary. My challenge is going well. I'm finding my chapters are becoming bigger and, hopefully, better (they're not necessarily related). I've still got this set's grace day so I plan to use it tomorrow. Yet, there are still things to do. Nothing too tasking: going through websites, submitting a poem to a competition and doing some proof-reading for my two 'clients'. The others haven't got back to me with anything yet, so I only have these two to work on and one requires only a paragraph for the whole book. In an Amazon review.

It's called 'The Carvings Collection', consisting of ten (I think) short horror/suspense stories. It's by Drake Vaughn who, from what I've read, is a pretty good writer. The other is a Harry Potter fanfic on another website. I'm not sure of the writing quality yet but it sounds at least a little promising.

I'd like to note that I gained 12 books at Christmas and I'm expecting 3 more to complete one of the series. Apparently, I'm the same breed as my friend. She found herself with 11 books and a Kindle Fire. ;D Who said reading was bad, anyway? Yes, the road to hell is supposedly paved with adverbs. XD And writing is said to be a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia. But nobody ever really dirties the name of reading. Okay, 'don't believe everything you read'. However, it doesn't say don't read.

And if that rambling isn't proof of my insanity, I don't know what is. No, really, I don't.

Anyway, for now, I have to go. Bye!
