Silence is A Virtue

Rhiannon Spencer is just your average 16 year-old teenager: hyper, hates school, argues with her parents every so often, fancies guys WAY out of her league and has serious friendship problems. Of course, being a teen, Rhiannon's diary of every day events seems outrageous, but as the pages turn, more is revealed. Deep inside lies a troubled past, and a girl who's scared of the future.

13. Keep Breathing, Rhiannon

Dear Diary,

It's been two weeks now, and still no sign of Edmund. I'm sick with worry and I go searching for him whenever I can, but we still don't know where he is. Mum's forcing me to school every morning, forcing me to eat every day and is always telling me 'keep breathing, Rhiannon' because I'm so disfunctional at the moment, it's a task to keep me breathing. Nothing's making sense any more, Krissy isn't speaking to me, Maybelle's ill. My life is becoming lonely and pointless.

Sometimes I wish Ethan had killed me when he had the chance, rather than leaving me to be found be my 'friends'. Some friends they are. Krissy only cares about herself now that Josh has dumped her. And you know what, I'm glad they broke up, because it just shows Krissy that she can't have everything handed to her on a silver platter. It's only now that I've realized how awful she really is. She never visited me when I was in hospital, she never visited me at the weekend and Maybelle told me that Krissy had been having house parties without even telling me. What a bitch!
