'twas the Night Before Valentines

A Valentines themed version of the famous poem. This is my entry for the Valentines Competition.

1. Poem

Twas the night before Valentines, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse

Their heads filled with dreams, their hearts filled with love

Love that is more pure, than two gorgeous white doves.

Love-struck young and old, were all people tonight

Their hearts were so warm, their faces so bright

As they thought of that someone, who filled them with joy

Whether that be a girl, or that be a boy.

The shops had been busy, selling flowers and wine

From the the vinyards of Chile, oh how lush were those vines!

The cards were all hidden, in cupboards and drawers

With messages saying, "You're mine and I'm yours".

The postmen were busy, sorting presents into piles

Thinking of their spouses, with great beaming smiles

In a all day cafe, the waitress checks the clock

Waiting for her loved one, curling her frizzy locks.

And somewhere in the sky, Saint Valentine looks down

At an earth filled with happiness, and not a single frown

She has a gentle smile, and she is satisfied

At all the joy she's brought, to soulmates grooms and brides.
