Real Life Heroes: A Malala Yousafzai Writing Competition

A writing competition inspired by the girl who changed the world...

In 2012, a teen blogger and education activist miraculously survived an attempt on her life by the Taliban. Her crime? Simply standing up for the rights of girls to a proper education. Since then, her unwavering dedication to this cause has captivated the globe. Her name is Malala Yousafzai.

The full, awe-inspiring story is revealed by Malala herself in the brand new book 'Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Changed the World', co-authored by Patricia McCormick. Malala's book has had us all absolutely hooked, and in celebration of its release, we're inviting you all to enter this very special writing contest.

About the Competiton

For the chance to win some awesome prizes, write one of the following:

1. A story about overcoming a challenge in life. This doesn't have to be as dramatic as Malala's! All triumphs over adversity should be celebrated. Maybe your character successfully stands up to a bully, or refuses to let a disability hold them back.

2. A story about a blogger with a cause. Whether it's exposing a scandal or encouraging a revolution, we want you to show us just how powerful blogging can be!

3. A story about starting a new school in a totally different place. After her recovery, Malala swapped Pakistan for a school in Birmingham -it must have been quite a change. Your story can take place anywhere, think about the dramatic differences and surprising similarities shared by schools around the world.
