High School: The Mediocre Times

Why high school is completely and utterly stupid and pointless, whilst simultaneously being a fun time and a great learning experience. But the real question is... Will she get the guy?

There are so many cliches about high school, where should I even start? There are those movies that show the whole "outcast" experience; it's living hell and everyone there is out to get you, teachers, popular kids, smart kids, everyone except other outcasts are horrible people. Then we have the complete opposite of the spectrum; the movies that show that high school consists of the best years of your life. You're pretty much responsibility free, you're friends with everyone, you're the popular cheerleader with the football star boyfriend, or vice versa. You party and drink and have sex and say fuck the future, I'm living for the now.

Well I'm here to tell you that neither of those are right. Sure there may be bits or pieces that seem pretty close to the truth, but nothing anywhere in between is right. High school is both, its a mix of some of the cringiest things you'll want to never remember, and some of the moments you wish would've lasted forever.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times," said some super famous old dead guy a long time ago. At least I think he's dead. I don't enough about it to check, I have bigger fish to fry.

I didn't go to school last week, except for Monday, because I had the flu. I was up all Monday night and Tuesday morning puking my guts out every twenty minutes, all the while hallucinating that I was some sort of military leader sometime between the years 300 and 1400 in Eurasia, battling the increasingly daunting forces of the Arabian empire, like I learned in my AP World History class on Monday.. It was an excruciating night. I didn't have a single moment of relief until Wednesday.

Now since I spent all week recovering from that shit show of a night, I missed a lot, including all the preparation for midterms THIS WEEK. On top of that I have two projects due tomorrow, and a midterms start tomorrow too, not to mention all the other stuff I have to catch up on.

If there's one thing I know about high school, it's that it's painfully stressful. My mom genuinely found a grey hair on my head the other day.
