It All Started With A Brownie

Actually, it starts with two.
Susie gets up one morning and makes a load of brownies. 250, in fact. She and her friends don't know what to do with them so they decide to sell them - outside their apartment. A guy comes along, hood up, blue eyes and soft blonde hair. He keeps his face hidden, but when Susie sees him properly, it's Niall Horan, her celebrity crush. Can Susie keep her secret hidden from her friends, or will the truth come out?

1. It All Started With A Brownie

Susie’s POV

I groaned in my sleep and my eyes flickered open. A poster of Niall stared at me on my far bedroom wall and I smiled sleepily. Cute. Very, very cute.

I dragged myself out of bed and stared at my hair in the mirror, sighing and deciding that I couldn’t be bothered. I mean, who was gonna see me, right?

Picking up an old birthday card from my 18th birthday, I chucked it in the bin and proceeded through to the kitchen of the apartment. I fixed myself some American pancakes with blueberries and sat down to eat. Liv, Annabel and Zara were watching the TV in the sitting room. SpongeBob Square pants, I think. Yep. Annabel definitely won the remote over that one.

Suddenly the TV stopped talking and three hungry girls came running into the kitchen.

“I wanna pancake Susie!” Liv cried, sniffing the plate and giving me puppy dog eyes.

“Me tooooo!” Annabel sat with Liv and they both grinned at me. Haha.

Zara rolled her eyes and got some milk out of the huge fridge. It was packed full to the brim of expensive brands that Zara like to splash out on.

I got up from the spinny chair and made six more pancakes for my adorable friends. They waited every morning for me to make breakfast for them, as they were hopeless themselves and my food always seemed to make them happier.

When I had finished making the pancakes and the others had scoffed them all down, I decided I wanted to do some baking, as that is my absolute favourite thing in the whole entire WORLD!

So there I was just thinking about the brownies I was gonna make when I had a lovely memory of my old Spanish class at my secondary school. Ah, happy times.

My friends left me to my baking and went back to the TV. I started throwing in the ingredients for my brownies, not bothering to weigh them first.

After I'd made the brownies, I slumped across the granite worktop and closed my eyes. Not long after the alarm woke me up again and I hurriedly took the brownies out of the oven. My eyes widened at what I saw.

Hundreds of brownies stared back at me. Whaaaat? How had I made this many?

Right. The others had to see this! I rushed over to the sofa and grabbed a bored looking Zara.

“Zara! Zara! Come and look at how many brownies I made!” She sleepily got up from the sofa and walked with me to the kitchen. There was an amazing smell and she started at the sight of the hundreds of brownies I had lying on the worktop.

“Woah, Susie, how many did you make?!”

I smiled proudly, “250.”

The tanned girl raised her eyebrows at me, “What are we gonna do with them?”

I thought for a moment then shrugged. “Sell 'em.” I mean, who else was gonna eat them, we might as well give them to hungry people wandering around London.

“Ok. Let’s get selling!”

Liv and Annabel helped us pile all the food on to several big trays and we set up a stall outside our apartment.

A lot people gave us weird looks, but a few of the public stopped and bought a brownie, liking the fact that we had chosen to give all the money to charity instead.

It was nearly two o’clock by the time all of us started to get incredibly peckish, so the girls decided to go inside and make some sandwiches for us all to have.

So, I just stood there, hoping more people would come and buy the damn things. Why had I made so many in the first place?! I know. I'd had a lot on my mind, what with Max breaking up with me last week. I'm still not over it, I guess, but maybe I'll find someone else. Maybe.

Just then, a hooded guy came up to my stall and his blue, sparkly eyes gleamed at the sight of food. He got out a £10 note and gave it to me, telling me to keep the change and taking two brownies. His hoodie was light blue and he had the hood up. He kept his face slightly lowered so I couldn’t see it properly, but his blonde hair peeked out and it looked vaguely familiar somehow.

We struck up a conversation, but i found him a little rude because he didn't look at me properly. He asked me how i made loads of brownies and what recipe i used. I gave it to him and he smiled, but still didn't look up. I asked him his name but he ignored me and changed the subject. I shook off the feeling of suspicion and smiled and answered all his questions. His accent was Irish and it was so cute!

The boy stayed to eat his brownies and when he took a bite, he moaned softly and I chuckled. He liked my food! The guy swallowed and took another bite. This time he threw his head back in delight and I laughed even harder. When I opened my eyes again I had the biggest shock of my life. The guy's hood had fallen off and I could see the whole of his face. It was Niall Horan.
