32. Dimission

”Hey guys… I want you to wake up now… It is soon now. There is only me between it. Before you can say that you have graduated high school, or as every loser would call it, hell. But we are all losers, or should I say winners,” smilte jeg udver pladsen fra talerstolen. ”These months has been charactized of exam and university choosing and admission. I know it has been hard for some of us. You know getting the good marks we have to, choose the university, when maybe get an refusal from your first priority and I could go on. And before I do that I maybe have to tell you, most of you know,” Jeg kløede mig I nakken. “that I am a writer. Been at the New York Times Bestselling list lot of times, selling pretty good. And I am no exception from what I was just talking about. I have done it all. The first time I ever thought about what I was going to do after high school, was when my manager asked me about it. I answered her surely. “Write all the time.” She just laughed and understood me. “Let’s see,” she said.  When I came to the school counselor, who asked me: “Which universities have you been trying?” I looked wondering at him. “I am going to write,” I answered. “You sure?” he asked. He made me doubt. He told me to think about it and I did. I spoke with my manager about it. “I would take journalism,” she said. “What?!” I almost shrieked. “Well, I don’t think reading a lot of books and analyze them would help for you, or rather I think you can get that exam right now, if it should be. That is not what you need. You would have more utility of journalism,” she said. I always do what Claire says, because she is always right. I only tried 3 universities. It wasn’t so important to me to get that education. The first was Harvard. Yes I know… and well of course it didn’t work out. They ran shrieking away, just by my name, because people think I am not serious,” Jeg kunne høre enig spredt mumlen om at det kunne ikke passe. “The second was Columbia, just here in New York. Their journalism line is one of world’s best. It didn’t work out either; I didn’t have good enough marks. The third was USC in LA, California, and I got in there. After that it was exams to worry about. And well I haven’t been the most faithful pupil, and had quite a lot of other important things to do. And let us say that I actually dumped in everything which wasn’t English, German, French, history, psychology and Social Science. I know that is some subjects but I didn’t get good enough math and in the scientific I was lost. And what I am trying to tell you with this is that sometimes you have to think about what you never think about, like me who never thinks education. I hope that most of you had a bit more luck than I. Now let’s just get these certificate and throw our hats,” sluttede jeg. ”Fantastic and well-written, a great writing job,” roste hun. ”Se! Det var hvad jeg ville høre! Thanks Claire,” grinte jeg. ”I still better like your imaginary stories, we public” tilføjede hun hviskende.
