NaNoWriMo 2016

NaNoWriMo 2016 Competition

The epic novel-writing competition is back, with a vengeance

Yes, that time of year is upon us. It’s time to open your notebooks, sharpen your pencils, and get your caffeinated drink of choice on standby.

That’s right, it’s National Novel Writing Month.

For those of you who haven’t experienced the joys of NaNo before, here’s the low down.

NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, is where hundreds of thousands of writers plan to write 50,000 words (a short novel, or the majority of a longer one) in the month of November. You heard me, in November. In just 30 days. This means writing 1,667 words every single day of November.

It sounds crazy because it is. And it’s a wild rollercoaster of fun and fear, delight and despair. But it grows writers like it’s some kind of magic spell, so I encourage all of you to have a go!

How to Participate

Sharing your work is a great way to get initial feedback, and comments might spark some new ideas!

  • Share the first 5,000 words of your NaNo novel in a movella.
  • Not doing NaNo this year? Why not get in the spirit and commit to adding a chapter to a new movella every day?

The Prize

There will be one winner of NaNoWriMo who will get to pick a book bundle of their choice as a prize.
