Might there be More Than This?

Haven’t you ever felt like there’s more out there somewhere, just beyond your grasp, if you could only get to it?

We want you to explore the boundaries of reality in this exclusive writing competition.

More Than This is the latest novel from the incredibly talented Patrick Ness, best known for the Chaos Walking trilogy (you can read an extract from the first book in the series, The Knife of Never Letting Go, on Movellas!) and A Monster Calls.

What does it really mean to be alive? In this powerful and provocative novel, multi-award winning author Patrick Ness challenges our understanding of the world. How do we know what is truly real? To lure you in to this gripping story, here’s the tantalizing blurb:

A boy drowns, desperate and alone in his final moments.

He dies.

Then he wakes, naked, bruised and thirsty, but alive.

How can this be? And what is this strange, deserted place?

As he struggles to understand what is happening, the boy dares to hope. Might  this not be the end? Might there be more to this life, or perhaps this afterlife?

When we love a book at Movellas as much as we love More Than This, it can mean only one thing: a writing competition!

The idea is to use this intriguing quote from the book as the inspiration for your entry:

“Haven’t you ever felt like there has to be more? Like there’s more out there somewhere, just beyond your grasp, if you could only get to it?”

Entries can be no more than 4,000 words and must be a complete story. The contest is open to members of all ages from the UK & Republic of Ireland.

One entry per person.

10 lucky winners of this competition will get a signed copy of More Than This as well as, wait for it...
feedback on your story from the Walker Books editorial team!
