How do you "Keep It Real"?

Your chance to express your views.

Today is International Day of The Girl, and we've created a writing competition to celebrate it.

On the back of the success of our Huffington Post comp, "Stand Up For Teens", we are going to be running regular writing competitions that have more of a journalistic component.  Next week we're attending a conference in Cardiff called #KeepingItReal which is part of a campaign to inspire and encourage girls to find their own personal definition of success, exploring what being “real” means to them.  The conference aims to showcase inspiring people from all walks of life that are “keeping it real” and to explore girl issues, such as body image, gender stereotyping, bullying, and more.  So what better way to explore these topics than through writing about them.  Right?

So here's your challenge.  Write an article of between 500-800 words about any of the following topics, or one that you've chosen yourself that relates to "KeepingItReal":

  • Being true to oneself
  • Following your passions and dreams
  • Overcoming obstacles
  • Not giving in to other people’s ideals or stereotypes
  • Finding your own measure of happiness and success

We want to hear why you think girls have the power to make a difference and to inspire others.  We've even created a group for you here.  So what are you waiting for?  Get writing and remember to share your views through social media.  These are issues that need to be heard and you're the best people to hear it from.

Any restrictions?

No.  Anyone can join this competition.  Even boys!

What's the prize?

We'll select a winner and 2 runners up for a very special prize, so keep checking in to find out more.  We can't wait to read all the entries:-)
