Create a Legacy

Movellas have teamed up with the lovely people at Spinebreakers and Penguin Books to bring you our most ambitious competition yet. Create a legacy and win a book for every week of the year!

What does a legacy mean to you? Is it an athlete who has won a gold medal at the Olympics or a fight to the death by a band of valiant warriors. Maybe it is the memories and artefacts left to you by your ancestors or simply the history of the place where you grew up.

Movellas and Spinebreakers, a UK online teen book community run by teens themselves, have joined forces to create a legacy. This is the theme of our exciting new writing competition. Explore legacy with a short story or piece of poetry and then share it with the world. The only rule is to keep your story under 1500 words - you can submit from any country and as many times as you want.

Once you have written your entry and uploaded it to, click the big green button in the top right of this screen and submit it to the contest. A shortlist will be made based on likes, favourites and views (so be sure to share your story with everyone!) and then the overall winner will be chosen by the Movellas and Spinebreakers teams.

The lovely people at Penguin Books have been kind enough to donate our most amazing prize yet! A collection of 52 books*, one for every week, from all of their incredible publishing departments. The second and third placed stories will receive Movellas diplomas and a full critique of their work by our editorial team. For a list of the 52 books on offer be sure to check out our blog post here.

Time to create your writing legacy! Good luck Movellians.
