Hello, this is Kaelin Hardrit speaking. I'm a 23 year-old who loves Muse and steampunk, just managed to afford her first car, and an amateur jack-of-all-trades in the making. Hopefully I'll also one day achieve fame, fortune and glory, but don't worry about that. I'm here to see if I can put down in writing some of the millions of ideas in my head and keep going with them. I may not be so good with this concept, so drop me line if I don't seem to be updating something you like! Critiques (honest, constructive ones) are always welcome and greatly appreciated, and I will give your movellas a look in return!

Joe, I wouldn't so much cut it up as work on the pacing. While the description is beautiful, it all has roughly the same rhythm to it paragraph to paragraph. For the sake of speed, make a list of the things you want to be most striking or what you want to convey most with the scene, and place let your description flow the most there, but keep it simple elsewhere. Things that you think are important fo the reader to know but don't quite need to know now can be left for later chapters. For example, the description of how far away his pursuers are and how fast they're gaining should probably take no more than a sentence but still include some direct sensory imput, to give a sense of urgency or something impending.

This is something I've dabbled in writing on and off for some time and I wanted to see whether it was worth sticking out and finishing as a real book. It's a sword and sorcery tale, with magic, swords,...

That being said, I would love to read more. It sounds like you have the start of an epic story here.
