I was born in Ipswich and grew up by the seaside in Felixstowe. Then I went to
university in Aberystwyth in Wales. Then I had a load of different jobs including as a
tent cleaner in France, a holiday rep in Tunisia and an English teacher in Belgium.

I liked that teaching job the best so I came back to England and worked in schools in
London and Cardiff. I still teach A Level English to sixth-formers in a college near
Norwich.

I’ve always loved reading and writing. My first attempt at a novel was when I was
eight years old! I wrote a book called Toot the Owl. It wasn’t very good but I drew
the front cover myself and it was amazing

My first novel for teenagers was Lottie Biggs is Not Mad. This was awarded The
White Raven Award for exceptional and innovative books for children by the
International Youth Library in Munich. There are now two more books in the Lottie
Biggs series and another novel called What’s Up With Jody Barton?

And I’m still writing!

I live in Norwich with a very lovely husband and a very lovely house rabbit.
