To write fiction is to share your soul, to express your innermost passions, your loves and loathes. It is a fearless endeavour, a matter of great bravery. It's opening your arms to the world, wanting to make a difference to it, wishing to affect a change, no matter how small, for the better, and not knowing whether or not you will be embraced, not caring either way. Idealistic nonsense? The world will never be ideal without it.

    Hi Esme,

I couldn't find Outside, so I had a read of this one.
Very briefly, it's great in places but overwritten in others.
Keep writing every day and you're on your way to becoming a great writer. I mean that. You've got real potential, and it's apparent through your work that you have the passion to progress, and then succeed.

Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate it? Are you getting your book published? Sorry I am just curious because one day I wish to publish a book - I am currently working on one on Microsoft Word instead of Movellas :-D

Hi. I just noticed you read and put one of my stories on your favourite list. Thank you for that. I have never given feedback on here but feel compelled to do so now. One question before I start: are you really twelve?

Two very different people meet during a war. One is a 4 year old child, Fariad the other is the man called Matthew that realises how cruel this world really is. Five years later they meet. But how will...

Presuming you are, parts of this are wonderful. Chapter two, from "how come children learn that it was the other side that did wrong...", right up to and including the last sentence of that stanza is very good. I particularly like "whoever wins becomes justice.". Writing at that level at such a young age displays a fantastic potential for your future. Two things bothered me, though. 1) At times the character's voices don't seem legitimate. I suspect that through watching American TV and reading American Fiction, you have adopted a few terms that are misplaced in your work ('reporters' instead of journalists, for one). 2) towards the end, and in chapter 4 for certain, you over elaborate - you 'tell' too much. Chapter 4 needs to go, it is too self-aware.

Advice: try not to think about your audience too much when you write. Close your eyes, be inside the story, and forget the world outside. People will either like your work or loath it. Pay little attention to the latter.

Overall, if you are twelve, you are brilliant!

    All the best,

    Dom Dark.

Glad the feedback was helpful and you took it as it was intended - constructively. You just keep writing and one day it will all click into place. It's great that you are using the internet in such a positive way. I thought ALL twelve year olds used it exclusively for cyber-bullying.

Anyway, keep up the good work and, if you get chance, spread word around your friends and family about my book. I'll send you a free copy for your troubles.

If you're going to spend your life pushing people around, at least know you're pushing them in the right direction. Read my story, Ronald Sutcliffe, a god among men. That is all.
