Hello, Im april. I've wanted to be a writer ever since I was seven and watched the biographical film of Iris Murdoch. I enjoy reading anything from Leo Tolstoy to Malorie Blackman and Stephen King. I am particularly interested in 19th century literature and have enjoyed reading novels from Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell, Emily and Charlotte Bronte and Oscar Wilde. I love my friends and family who are pretty much spread everywhere from America, London to Jamaica.

I'm open to any constructive criticism and advice and will be happy to review any stories if asked. Hope to see you around :)

I really loved your tribute to the victims of Titanic. From the first sentence I was hooked, this story is very powerful and pretty close to the actual stories I have heard. Similarily, you express the difficulties and personal battles many survivors continued to struggle with long after the incident.

This has been really well written, I can tell a lot of effort has been put into every sentence - it's very descriptive. I particularly like how you interweaved the actual events with Charlotte's story. I also like how you isolated certain statements such as, "The unsinkable Titanic had been sunk," so that they have an even more powerful effect. Good luck in the competition!

As my tribute to the people who survived and died on the Titanic 100 years ago, I wrote a diary about someone who was there on that fateful day. This is my entry to the diary competition, the first one...

Thanks! I tried to make this heart warming and alert people to what really happened on that day. I am so glad you liked it! All through the night I kept getting all these ideas for the story and had to keep getting out of bed to write my ideas down (I don't think anyone noticed) I didn't get much sleep that night but who cares? Once again I am glad you enjoyed reading this and I will post some new material soon! :-D
P.S Thanks for the support in the competition, I think I might need all the luck I can get!

This is really good! Your writing is very engaging and descriptive. The emotions of the 'girl' come across very well, her distress is clearly evident in the diary. You also raise awareness on a very real life and serious topic.

The only constructive criticism I can offer is that maybe to put less emphasis on the things her parents do, not because children don't get treated in such horrible ways by their parents, but because it is often one parent or due to the fact that they have been abused themselves as children. I think it would maybe make your story stronger, and the characters of the parents more 3D to help the reader atleast understand why they are treating their child in such a horrible way. Did she ruin their possibilities of a future? Were they raised in a similar way?

    All in all, great job!

This is amazing! Who knew that only a couple of paragraphs could be so engaging! Your writing is very descriptive and really drew me in. Right now I have a lot of questions - who is this girl? Is she trying to hurt him? Where are they? - Which is good because it means that your beginning has done what its supposed to do by drawing me and make me care enough about the characters to want to read on. Well done, I really love this (:
