    Regarding ’Rant 22’

As stated in my previous comments about 2 months ago, the movellian who had supposedly made fake accounts was cleared of all suspicion. According to Jordan, the IP addresses of the ‘fake’ accounts did not belong to the movellian in question – if they did, the accounts would have been deleted.

As for her ‘confession’ one can only assume that it was an act of desperation in an attempt to stop people from tormenting her.

In the end, this website is run by a crew of staff who are all working very hard to make everyone happy. With the amount of users on this website, it might seem like an impossible task at times. Ultimately it is their job to ensure that the codes of conduct are being followed, and it is up to them to take action if necessary.

Everyone is entitled to have an opinion, but it is wrong to use that right to belittle others with petty slander. If you are in a mood to judge others, perhaps you should look at yourself first.

    Dear Movellas Reporter,

I am very grateful to see that you are passionate in fighting against the mass of explicit One Direction fan fictions. I am in support of your cause and I sincerely hope that it one day might prove successful as I too feel that these movellas have no place on this website.

However, I must admit that I do not agree with the way that you are addressing said issues.

Although it might not be your intention, it is highly unethical to single out individuals and belittle them by putting them in a bad light. No matter how suspicious their actions might seem, it is wrong to publicly accuse someone. They are innocent until proven otherwise, and they should be treated accordingly.

Therefore I would beg of you to remove the ‘rants’ that include the mention of certain individuals. Even if they have done something wrong, they do not deserve to be put in the spotlight for everyone to judge.

Similarly, I don’t think it is right to use your ‘rant’ as a device to ridicule those who oppose your opinions. If you have quarrels with anyone, it should be done privately because it is unfair to use your followers to gang up on them. Therefore, if someone sends you ‘hate’ you should report the user and delete their comment(s) if necessary.

In the end it is important to act modest and kind when ‘protesting’ against a large part of a community. You should be considerate of their feelings and treat them as equals, even if you are of different opinions. After all, would you listen to someone if they talked down to you? I definitely wouldn’t.

I sincerely hope that you will take my advice and change your way of doing things. I realise that you feel very strongly for the cause, but it takes a true ‘protester’ to be empathetic of those who are against you and be able to put yourself in their place.

I will quote directly from your 'Rant 6.'

“If you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say it at all.”

Yes, I am glad that you deleted it and I sincerely hope that you did it for the right reason and not because of my begging.

    Thank you :)

Naming and Shaming... Is it right?

    Hi there :)

This forum post is meant as a friendly, open-minded discussion about the whole topic of naming and shaming. Therefore I would hope that everyone will be able to see it from both perspectives. The main point being; please show consideration and understanding :)

Although I have not been involved in all of the things that have happening on Movellas, I have noticed that there is a huge amount of arguing going on. Usually I wouldn't get involved in these kind of things, but I am beginning to grow concerned for the well-being of some of the writers on this website.

First of all, it is completely understandable that many are annoyed about the behaviours of other Movella users, because they may not be acting according to the rules or what is believed to be 'alright'.

Truly it can be a big downside, especially if you, as an individual, are doing your best to be fair and obedient of the codes of conduct.

However, it does not give you any right at all to talk down to other people, talk 'behind their backs' or as the title of the topic suggests; name and shame them.

The only right thing to do is to report the 'wrong-doers' to Movellas staff either through e-mail or by contacting a Movellas ambassador in private. There is no need to rant about them on forums or comments!

"Why?" do you say. Well, first of all: naming and shaming is in itself, an act that is frowned upon, because not only are you targeting the 'wrong-doer', you are also bringing a massive mob with pitchforks and flaming torches on him/her. If that was you, how would you feel? How would you feel if suddenly, out of nowhere, the entire Movellas community started 'flaming' you because someone had said that you were a 'wrong-doer'? It's sad to say that some of the name and shame things that are happening verge at the point of cyberbullying.

You might say that 'they deserve it" or "they brought in on themselves" but that is hardly fair. No one is perfect. People do mistakes all the time. It's a human thing. There could be many a reason for people's 'wrong-doing' and usually they don't even mean to! No one wants to do wrong things if they can avoid it!

Look at it from both perspectives, be considerate of your fellow Movellians, even if you are competing against them or you are of different opinions. Everyone has feelings. It's difficult to believe when you're on the internet, but all you have to do is put yourself in the other person's place.

    Be kind! :)

Well, if someone's done something that I don't believe is right or fair, I'll hint who it is, but I won't name then unless action is being taken against them by the staff. And thanks for this, Penguin. I hope a lot of people will stop their arguing after seeing this.

I've never named and shamed. I've reported underage girls for writing 1D smut, but I've never come on a forum and shared their profile URL on here.. But I understand what you're saying. Once someone names and shames someone, that leaves the person who may have done wrong open to ridicule at the hands of the others whom are also naming and shaming..

Yeah, I agree that it is cyberbullying. I don't think I've ever named and shamed, it's just wrong.
