17. Confusion

Alesea wakes up to someone shaking her lightly. She groans and opens her eyes. A figure is standing above me and I tense.

“Hey, hey. It’s just me.” She hears Kaiden say and she relaxes.

Then she frowns. “What are you doing in my room?” She asks sitting up and looking at him.

He shrugs rubbing the back of his neck. “I thought, you know it might be nice to wake up to some breakfast in bed” he says.

That’s when the smell hits her nose. She turns her head toward and sees the plate of steaming food sitting on her night stand. She looks at him. She doesn’t know what to say so she stays silent.

He frowns. “Alesea? You ok?” He asks with slight concern.

She nods. “Yes I just…...Don’t know what to say.”

Relief floods his features and a smile spreads across his face. “You don’t need to say anything. Just eat. I’ll be in the garden if you need me.” He turns to walk out.

“Wait.” Alesea says. She rubs the back of her neck not knowing she told him to wait.

He turns around and cocks his head at her. “Yeah?”

She blushes a little. “umm….Maybe you could stay and join?” She asks.

He laughs. “I’ve never seen you blush before. It’s adorable.”

She glares at him. “Shush.” She says blushing deeper.

He chuckles. “Aww you’re adorable.”

She hides her face. “Shut up.” She mumbles in her hands.

She hears footsteps and feels the bed dip beside her. A hand touches her shoulder. “Hey I’m just messing with you.” Kaiden says.

She uncovers her face and tackles him. She glares at him playfully. “Ha got you!”

He looks up at her shocked then smiles. “You sure about that?”

Next thing she knows she’s pinned to the bed his face inches from hers in a mischievous grin. She looks up at him with wide eyes. His hands are gripping her wrists making it hard for her to move. He leans closer mouth brushing against her ear. “I win…. Now what’s my prize?” He asks in a seductive whisper causing her to shiver.

His lips brush against her neck softly. He slowly moves up her neck and pulls away just before his lips reach her’s he pulls away smirking. His hands are still gripping her wrists. “You still haven’t answered.” He says.

She glares at him. “ I have an answer. Why don’t you go shove it……” She doesn’t get to finish as his lips crash against hers.

Her eyes widen startled. He doesn’t pull away and soon she finds herself kissing him back. His grip loosens on her wrists and soon move to rest on her cheek and neck as he deepens the kiss. Her eyes flutter closed and electricity goes through her. When he pulls away they are both breathless.

Her heart flutters in her chest as he stares at her and she stares back not knowing what to say. Eventually a smile spreads across his face. “What no more remarks?” He asks.

She rolls her eyes and pushes him off her. He lands on the floor with a startled yelp. She laughs at him and gets up. “That is adorable.” She says mockingly. She goes to head to the bathroom when arms wrap around her legs and she falls to the ground.  Before she can get up Kaiden is on top of her pinning him to the ground.

She tries to get up but he doesn’t let go. She groans. “Let me go Kaiden.”

His grip tightens. “No. Not until you say that I’m manly. I am not adorable.”

She laughs. “Aww did I hurt your pride?”

He growls. “I swear I will tickle you.” He warns.

She gasps. “You wouldn’t.”

She’s flipped onto her back and he grabs her wrists pinning them above her head. He smirks. “You going to take it back?” he asks.

She shakes her head. He starts tickling her sides. She bursts out laughing and wiggles trying to get from him. “S s stop!”

He smiles and doesn’t stop. “No not until you say I’m handsome.”

She takes in a gasping breath. “F fine! Your handsome!” She says.

He stops and laughs getting up. He holds out a hand but she crosses her arms not taking it. She pouts. “I hate being tickled.”

He rolls his eyes. “Come on. Your foods cold.”

She glares. “Oh and who’s fault is that?”

The door opens and Michael raises an eyebrow at the scene in front of him. “I thought I heard some ruckus. What’s going on in here?” He asks.

Kaiden opens his mouth to say something but Alesea cuts him off before he can. “He’s being a pain in the butt.” She says sitting up and brushing herself off.

Kaiden rolls his eyes and helps her the rest of the way up. He leans close brushing his lips against her ear. “You know you liked it.” He whispers causing her to shiver.

She blushes and pushes him away. She hears Michael chuckle. She rolls her eyes and walks past them. “I’ll be up on the balcony if anyone needs me. I’m no longer hungry.” She starts up the stairs going to the fourth floor. She looks around knowing she saw a balcony while she was flying.

She takes a wrong turn and ends up getting lost. She sighs and bumps into someone. “Oh my I’m sorry!” A woman says. She holds out her hand for Alesea.

Alesea grabs it with a small smile. “It’s fine Ma’am.” She rubs the back of her neck. “Umm who are you exactly?” She asks.

The woman smiles. “ I was going to ask you the same thing. My name is Martha.”

Alesea smiles. “My name is Alesea. Are you Kaiden’s mother?”

Martha no longer smiles and clears her throat. “Mm...Yes. Did he keep you here against your will as well?”

Alesea laughs. “Yes but it’s not like what you think. You see I am the dragon queen. I’m the heart of the dragon king.”

Her eyes widen in shock. “My my! Dear you are a dragon as well? My son did not mention of you. Actually he had surprisingly released the people he kept here and said we can leave as we please.”

Alesea nods. “Why haven’t you?”

She shrugs. “Where would we go? Our son is here. Why haven’t you gone?”

Alesea sighs. “Because I have to stay. There’s a whole new species that has yet to be hatched yet and it’s my job to raise them as the queen. For now I was heading to the balcony to relax away from your son and his constant flirting but I have seemed to gotten myself lost.”

Martha smiles. “You were heading in the right direction. Here let me show you.”

Alesea nods and follows Martha.

“So my son was actually flirting with you?” She asks looking at Alesea.

Alesea nods. “Well as close to flirting as he can get anyway. The kitchen is still a mess from last night.” She says shaking her head. “Then this morning. He’s very annoying.” She says a slight smile on her lips.

Martha smiles softly. “Seems to me you find him more than annoying.”

Alesea blushes and looks straight ahead. “Yeah well it seems I have feelings for your son. I think I always did but all those terrible things he was doing I kept denying them. Now that I see he’s actually trying to be better I find myself opening up to him. I know it must be stupid of me but I’m giving him a second chance.”

She feels a hand on her shoulder and sees Martha with gentle eyes. “Well I’m glad you’ve given my son a second chance.”

Alesea smiles.

They reach the balcony and Martha nods. “I’m glad to have met you. I hope the rest of your day goes well Alesea. You seem to be a kind girl and I can’t wait to get to know you more.” With that she walks alone leaving Alesea alone on the balcony.

Alesea lets her arms rest on the edge of the balcony and takes in a deep breath taking in the spring air. She sighs and closes her eyes. “You know it was rude of you to just leave me like that.” Alesea gasps and trips almost going over the balcony. “Alesea!” An hand grips her wrists and she looks up to see Lucas.

He pulls her up wrapping his arms around her waist to steady her. “I should really stop popping up out of nowhere around you.” He says.

She pulls away from him. “Yes you really should. I thought you said it takes three days to get here.”

He nods. “I got a little extra boost from a friend so I was able to make a bigger jump. I am a little exhausted but as long as I use don’t use any of my magic I should be fine until tonight.”

She smiles. “Well that’s good.”

He smiles. “Now you won’t be bored.”

She laughs. “Actually you missed a lot. I’ve so far had a decent time here.”

He gives a look of surprise. “Wait really?”

She nods. “Yes. Which reminds me. You are a fairy so you know a lot about magic right? Well he has finished demolishing all the villages and now something seems different about him. Like he’s a completely different person. Could he have been put under a spell to cause rage to cloud his judgement?”

Lucas rubs his chin thoughtfully. “Hmm…..You know there actually might be a possibility. Though the only spell I know that does that usually it takes away the emotions of the person and what they were supposed to be leaving them just a shell of rage.”

She frowns. “That is cruel. Why would someone do that?”

He shrugs. “I don’t know. I mean i’ve heard many stories of the sorceress. She used to be a fairy but she gave up her wings to live amongst the humans. She started giving ‘blessings’ and soon humanity took her in without question and would accept any spell on their child or them with complete trust in her. There are bad fairies if you can believe that who want to do more harm than good. It’s a possibility that she had turned bad.”

Alesea shakes her head. “It’s a possibility. It’s just hard to understand what her true intentions are. I mean creating a whole new species?”

He nods. Someone clears their throat. Alesea looks and sees Kaiden. At first she thinks he’s angry but she is surprised to see jealousy and agitation instead. “Fairy boy.” He says walking over to stand next to me.

Lucas rolls his eyes. “I’m much older than you Dragon king.”

Kaiden smiles. “Oh right I forgot. Anyway what brings you here?”

Lucas nods to Alesea. “Just saying hello to Alesea and having a chat. She had left unexpectedly and I was just making sure she was alright. The human kingdom did not make a great first impression for her.” He explains.

Kaiden frowns. “Ever heard of the front door?”

Lucas shrugs. “Less convenient.”

Kaiden laughs. “Less convenient? Wow maybe I should fly through the roof since opening a door is less convenient.”

Alesea rolls her eyes. “Lucas can teleport Kaiden. For him it’s easier to just pop up from anywhere to the place he wants to be.”

Kaide frowns at her. “He shouldn’t just pop up in here.”

Alesea sighs. “I know but we were just talking. Plus I don’t mind him popping up and talking to me. He’s a friend.”

Kaiden runs a hand through his hair and she can tell he’s aggravated. “Fine but if anything bad happens I will personally rip you to shreds. I don’t care who you are. You’re in my kingdom so you follow my rules.” He turns to Alesea. “And you.” He wraps his arms around her waist. He leans down and kisses her softly on the lips. Her eyes flutter close and she kisses him back. He pulls away. “You’re mine.” He says then walks away.

Alesea blushes deeply looking at Lucas. He’s face is blank and he clears his throat. “So that was interesting.”

She glares. “Shut up. I’m just as confused as you are. I used to hate the guy and now.” She sighs. “Now I don’t know.”

Lucas gives her a small smile. “Well only thing I could say is to listen to your heart Alesea. I better be welcome. I don’t want to overdue my stay.” Before Alesea can say anything he is gone leaving her staring into the hallway confused.

She walks from the balcony and finds her way to the stairs. She walks down to the first floor and goes out to the garden. The smell is calming and she sees that it’s filled with lavender. She smiles and sits in the middle of the garden. She closes her eyes and lays in the grass. She hears footsteps but doesn’t open her eyes.

“Alesea?” Kaiden asks. “What are you doing?”

She opens her eyes and sees that he’s standing above her. She shrugs. “Nothing. What does it look like?”

He sits down next to her. “Well can I do nothing with you?” He says with a small smile.

She rolls her eyes and smiles. “Sure.”

He lays on the ground next to her. “What I said earlier about you being mine. Would you....you know…. be mine?” He asks.

She looks at him. “We’ve only just met Kaiden. Yes I can’t deny that there is something between us but it’s much too soon to know what it is.”

Kaiden moves so he’s over top of her his elbows on either side of her keeping their bodies from touching. “What about stories of love at first sight? You can’t tell me you don’t feel the same way I do. One kiss isn’t enough. A hug is never long enough. I need you. I want you. My head is finally clear enough to realise it. I….”

Alesea places a hand over his mouth stopping him. “Don’t. Please don’t say it. Kaiden, Love at first sight is just tales, stories. You don’t need me you’ve done fine on your own before you even really knew me you’d be fine if i was gone.”

Kaiden grabs her hand and moves it. His face goes blank all emotion gone. “Fine. I won’t.” He gets up and walks back inside slamming the door shut behind him.

She sits up and runs a hand through her hair. She sighs. “Why am I so confused?”
