Breath & Shadow

A collection of my poems, some dark, some on the lighter side, some new, some previously published, and some I like to call "Brautigans," after one of my favorite poets. Hope you'll enjoy them!

15. Snow Blind (Villanelle)

Let the world fill up with silent snow
Obliterate this unbearable terrain.
Who would care, who would know

That cloud looks like a ragged crow?
Turn blood to ice in every fragile vein
Let the world fill up with silent snow

And leave poems on morning's window
Let bitter sleet dictate its bleak refrain.
Who would care, who would know?

I will not circle like some homely shadow
I'll pack my bags, I'll catch a train
Let the world fill up with silent snow!

If all we love in life's a running joke,
A cruel conceit to snare us in its skein
Who would care, who would know?

Blow out this candle's mournful glow,
Close the blinds - let darkness reign

Let the world fill up with silent snow
Who would care, who would know?
