Rewrite the Stars

Sophia comes from a rich, high class family. Her father is a world renowned brain surgeon, and expects his daughter to follow in his footsteps. However, Sophia's true passion is to sing.
Jake, on the other hand, does not have money and lives in a very small, bare apartment. His mother is sick and isn't able to work, so the only way they are able to get by is through Jake's music. He busks in the street for money, and occasionally plays small gigs in bars.
This is a story of what happens when two completely different worlds collide.

Since a lot of this story revolves around music and songwriting, I will be mentioning some song titles throughout the story. I'll use songs that exist in real life in various points in this story if they fit into the scene. Obviously this is fiction, I'm not trying to claim that these songs are actually my own.
Example - 'Fix You' by Coldplay was mentioned as one of Jake's original songs. In this story, the lyrics were written for his mother.

4. Meeting Her

Jake's POV

I start singing my song 'Fix You', while playing the guitar. I wrote the song for my mother while she was in hospital. As I played, a few people passing by would drop the odd pound into my guitar case to show their appreciation. Some people would stop for a moment to listen and watch. I part I loved most about performing my music was the people who enjoyed it. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed one girl had been standing nearby for longer than most people do. Then she began moving closer. I was too concentrated on the music to look up from my guitar. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, a huge wad of money lands in my guitar case.

The shock of the sight of this money stopped me from playing as I picked up the cash. "Who would give me £100?" I think to myself, stunned. Then I looked up to see who it was.

The most beautiful girl I'd ever seen in my life stared back at me with glistening deep blue eyes. She smiled at me, showing the cutest dimples on her cheeks.

"Excuse me, miss. Did you mean to drop this money into my case?..." I finally bring myself to say.

She giggles, removing her beautiful long hair from her face.

"Yes, I did. You're amazing. If I had more on me I would've given it to you but my mother just went inside the shopping centre with my purse.."

"You mean you just had this in your pocket?" I exclaim in shock

Slightly embarrassed, she just nods.

"I didn't want it to seem like I was bragging about money or anything, I'm sorry. I just wanted to support your music."

"No, I'm sorry. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much it's appreciated." I smile back at her.

"My name is Jake by the way."

"I'm Sophia." She replies.

We stand in silence for a moment. Then I finally pluck up the courage to ask her if she wanted to go at get some coffee with me.

"I know we just met and you probably already think I'm insane, but would you like to...um...get some coffee?"

Her eyes light up and she smiles.

"Yes, that would be nice. Just give me a second to text my mother so she doesn't get worried about me."

I pack up my guitar and we walk down the street together, chatting along the way. For the first time in my life I finally understand what people mean when they say they have "butterflies". She gave me that feeling from the very first moment we made eye contact and never stopped the whole time we spoke.
