Dark Side

Riley 'Precious' Walker is back in Riverdale after 4 years out of town.

A lot of secrets are mixed up, some lies no one knows about and only one mission can explain it all.

23. Chapter 23.

We were all together… You know… FP, Hog Eye, Jughead and Betty, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Toni and some others Serpents… We were sitting outside our trailers; FP started a fire, to make it comfortable to be here. The only one that’s not here is Joaquin, I miss him, hadn’t heard from him in days. One day he was happy and helpful, the next day he didn’t answer my text.

We laughed and told stories about the long time ago. Some of them talked about a fight between Southside VS Northside again.

I cuddled up to Sweet Pea with a blanket around us. “Why are we not doing this more often?” FP sat beside me. “Maybe it’s because you’re back with the gang?” I smiled. “Maybe, but it’s nice.” He smirked; he looked at the flame.

“We will see about that.” He pointed with his head away from us; I looked at the direction and saw a couple of people came towards us.
Joey (Our new dog) started to bark at them.
Jughead got up. “This is a Serpent land.” He said aloud.
They came close to us. They were five or more with one in front of them.
“HEY, this is a private territory,” FP said loud to them.

I got up with Sweet Pea.
“Joaquin?” He had his head down. Didn’t looking at us.
“What are you doing with them? Who are they?” I asked he didn’t answer or looked at me. I went over to Jughead. The others stand behind us. They stopped a couple of feet from us.

“Show yourself. Who are you guys?” FP asked and stepped up beside Jughead. “Not that fast, brother.” My mom stepped up the front of them, beside Joaquin.

“Margaret Walker, I should’ve known it was you.” She smiled and crossed her arms. “Forsythe Pendleton Jones, then we meet again, we have to stop meeting like this.” She smirked. “I can’t remember I have invited you to this party.” She grinned. “A party you say? How can you have a party, when one of your own betrays you?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She nudged to Joaquin with her shoulder. “Then you know what this kid is doing behind your back?” FP looked at Joaquin, who was still not looking up.

“YOU DON’T TOUCH HIM!” I yelled. She looked at me. “Riley… I almost couldn’t recognize you.” “You let go of Joaquin.” “Actually, I don’t need to.” She smiled at me.

She turned to FP. “Since no one knows, let me explain it to you. When you work for me, you do as I say, if not, bad things happen.” She nudges to Joaquin and chuckles. “You let Joaquin go, now Margaret,” FP told her. “That’s not up to me.” She looks at me. “Riley my dear, this is where you come into the picture.” I swallowed. While she walked up to me, she said. “I heard a little bird said you talked to Zeke, you think you can run from me? You can’t be my girl.” She stopped in front of me. “You’re right I’m not. Zeke told me I’m not in your family anymore. I’m not scared of you, mom. If you want to have Walker blood on your hands, you’re welcome to kill me, but you will never sleep in peace. Someone will always hunt you, you can threaten me as much as you want, but you will never hit me right.” I smirked at her with my arms crossed.

“Clever girl. Use your words wisely. The option is up to you.” Sweet Pea came up close behind me.

“What do you want me to do?” “You’re not going to work for her!” FP interrupted us. “You stay out of this. Let the little girl talk first.” She said to him.
“Who do you choose? Joaquin, or…” “I’m not going to choose between anyone here,” I said to her. “Ahh, I see. You want to see someone suffer before you make a choice, isn’t it right, Jughead?” She looked at Jug. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He said, not making eye contact with her. “You sure about that?” “You don’t have to do this, Margaret,” FP said. “I have the right to do this. I have one of your own.” “Let Joaquin go and we will keep our distance to you,” FP said. “Not quite yet. I want to have a little fun here.” She smirked.

One of her friends nudges Joaquin with his shoulder. “What would you do to him, Riley?” “I want him free from you.” “Not gonna happen. I don’t want to do your dirty work.” “I won’t kill him!” I said. I closed my fist. She is trying to press me to it.

“And I don’t know how to do it.” She said with her hands in defense. “I’m not going to kill him!” “Then you don’t know the rules at home.” I furrowed my eyebrows. “Where do you think dad is? Huh? At home? Haha!” She grinned. “You think you can make me kill one of my own?” “You did it once, why not twice?” “WHO WAS THE ONE WHO SAID EVERYDAY YOU WISHED HE WASN’T BORN? YOU did! You didn’t want him. You wanted to give him away. You wanted to move and leave him there. You’re not fucking better than anyone else here! You’re even worse! I can’t believe you're threatening me to kill Joaquin. You can’t even be happy for your own kids. Stands up for them.” “You want me to be happy for you?” She walked over to Joaquin. “Fine…” She hits Joaquin on his jaw. I screamed and tears fell down my cheeks.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” FP stopped Sweet Pea and Betty stopped Jughead. She sniffled and looked proud of me. “That’s was the feeling I got when you killed Ross.”

I stood there crying. I couldn’t get myself to run over to him. Joaquin stood up again.

“You’re a monster!” I said. “I am? You killed your own brother.” “I don’t give a fuck about Ross! But you can’t beat my family!” “You kill my family, I kill yours.” A tear ran down my cheek as I was looking at her.

“If you want a fight, let me give you one, but don’t touch my family.” “Fights is for those who can’t talk it out with words.” She looked at Sweet Pea. “Then let us talk,” I said. “Not here. I don’t want the others to bother us.” She looked at Jughead up and down. “Come on.” I followed her; she pushed Joaquin with her.

I looked back at FP. I swallowed… I don’t know what I’m supposed to do here.

We went on the other side of the Serpent land, behind the trailers.

She stopped and turned to me. “Make a choice.” She said to me. “I can’t.” I sighed. “You want to be a part of my family, then you have to do it.” “Killing Joaquin doesn’t change anything.” “Kill him, or you have to kill another one.” I took a deep breath. “Give me the gun,” I said. She smiled and gave me the gun from her pocket.

Joaquin looked up at me. For the first time today.

I stepped two feet away from them. We looked at each other. I couldn’t do it… How am I supposed to do this? Joaquin is my best friend… We've known each other our whole lives. I can’t shoot him. I just can’t...

“You know what is best for you, Precious. I warned you… I said I’m a dead man if I told you this.” Joaquin said to me. “I’m sorry…” I said. A tear ran down my face… I can’t pull the trigger, I just can’t…

A tear ran down Joaquin’s cheek. The first time I have ever seen him cry. It triggers me, that I can’t run from this, that I can’t stop the fights against us all. Why does my mom need revenge? I killed her son, now she wants me to kill my best friend.

I closed my eyes.
I pulled the trigger…
A gunshot echoes in the air.
Everything got silence… All the birds’ flies away, the smoke from the gun goes to the air… I did it… I made my mom proud… She can leave me in peace now.
