8. The Fight

I was totally not prepared for this Monday. I didn't sleep at all due to fact that my phone kept getting blown up with messages all weekend. I stayed over at Sakura's place for the weekend because, to be honest, I didn't want to be at Gaara's or Sasuke's house after what happened during the week. I had fun at Sakura's house. We talked about boys and relationships most of the time, but we did go clothes shopping at the mall with Ino, Hinata, and Temari.

Most everyone was still asleep during first period. Everyone but Naruto. "Hey Naya. How was your weekend?" I looked up at Naruto with tired eyes. "It was ok. I mean if you count two boys blowing up your phone with messages ok." Naruto looked at me with sympathy. " I feel sorry for you. You are caught in the middle between Sasuke and Gaara." I nodded and turned back to Asuma-sensei's lesson.

Geography was just as slow as Biology was. Not much happened at lunch. I sat with Kiba, Sai, Ino, and Sakura. Akamaru loved sitting over here but still noticed when I glanced over at Gaara's table. He would whine every time I did, making me turn back very quickly to see what was wrong. He would just nudge me and I would tell that it is ok. It wasn't until English class after lunch that we all realized that something was wrong.

I walked to English by myself. I walked in and notice that Gaara and Sasuke were not there yet. I thought nothing of it. I just went and sat in my seat. The bell rang and class began. I looked around to find that Gaara and Sasuke were still not there. It worried me a little but not enough to tell the teacher. Ino got up and asked Iruka-sensei if she could use the bathroom. He nodded and handed her a hall pass. She left the room, only to return five minutes later out of breath and flustered from running. She burst into the classroom. "Sakura, Naya! Sasuke and Gaara are fighting!" She looked at us with fear in her eyes. Me and Temari looked at each other and then at Sakura, we all nodded. "Take us to them!" We both said. We all ran out the door and before we knew it in front of us was two fighting boys.

The sight of my two best friends fighting triggered something inside of me. I lost the hold on my powers. Sand shot in front of me creating a Kunai that landed in between the two boys. I nodded to Sakura and we ran up behind the two boys, Me behind Gaara and her behind Sasuke, and hugged them from behind trying our hardest to keep them from lunging at each other. I had control of my sand and used it to create a barrier between them. This caused everyone in the nearby area to gasp with shock at my control over the sand. Once the barrier was in place Gaara stopped moving and turned his head to look down at me. I screamed. "Don't move, otherwise you could get hurt!" He froze and I let go of him. I walked over to the other side of the barrier to find that Sakura was having a lot of trouble trying to control Sasuke. I walked over and slapped Sasuke across the face. "What the hell were you thinking! I don't know why you two are fighting but I don't want this to happen ever again!" He stared at me wide-eyed. "But I don't want him to take you from me!" I looked at him with confusion. "He won't Sasuke. I will always be your friend. Nothing will change that." He glared at the barrier. "That is not what I meant!" I finally understood what he meant. "Sasuke, I don't think of you in that way. I think of you as a brother." He looked back me, the anger in his face melting. "Oh." I nodded. "Now stay here with Sakura while I go talk to Gaara." He nodded. I walked back to the other side of the barrier. Gaara was still standing in the position I left him in. "Relax, I got him to calm down. Now, tell me, what was this fight about?" Gaara's stance relaxed and he turned to face me. "It was about you." My eyes widened as I realized that they were both fighting for the same reason. "Gaara does that mean that you..." I couldn't finish the sentence. He just nodded. I turned and ran out of the area and all the way back to English. I told Iruka-sensei that everything was ok now and then took off running again. I didn't stop until I was in the girl's bathroom. I went into one of the stalls and broke down crying. I heard several voices calling my name. "Naya!" I heard the voices get closer then further and then close again. I just sat there crying. I didn't want them to see me in this state. I took some of my sand and blocked off the entrance to the bathroom. "Naya! Please come out!" The voice was Sakura's and it was right on the other side of my newly created barrier. She continued. "Naya! Gaara and Temari are worried about you. Please come out and tell us what is wrong." I finally gave in. I got up and exited the stall and walked over to my barrier. I slowly started to take the sand out of the barrier and put it into the container that had formed when the sand first appeared. Eventually I could see Sakura's face and then her whole body. She reached out her hand. I took her hand and she slowly led me to where Gaara, Temari, Kankuro, Ino, and Sasuke waited.
