I sigh. We made it to my house. I don’t know what they are going to think. I’m afraid of what they are going to think.

Alex puts a hand on my shoulder. “It’ll be fine. Come on.” He gets out.

I hesitate before opening the door. I get out and we head to the door.

Alex knocks on the door and we wait.

After a couple of minutes I hear footsteps. I hear the click of the lock on the door and the knob turns. The door opens to reveal my dad. He looks at us both. “Yes?”

Alex clears his throat. “Sir I have brought you your daughter. I’m her personal bodyguard for a while. I’m Alexander Trackson. The chief is paying me so you don’t have to worry.”

My dad looks at me. “And who’s this?” He asks skeptically.

I frown. “Hi Dad.”

His eyes widen. “Abigail? What happened to your eyes and hair?”

I sigh. “I’d rather not get into details dad. Where’s mom?” I ask.

Dad points upstairs. “She’s asleep. Come in.” He moves to the side and me and Alex walk in.

Alex raises an eyebrow at me and I roll my eyes. “You haven’t met my mom yet. Just wait.” I whisper.

My dad looks at me and sighs. “You know your mom is just trying to make sure your prepared for the outside world.”

I laugh. “Yeah yelling at me and ripping my underwear that I was wearing and threatening me is definitely preparing me for the outside world right? Plus I think what I have been through is enough of an eye opener. Bet mom’s going to come downstairs and say that too.”

Dad crosses his arms. “You know full well you were in the wrong. You were in your bed with the light off. She checked your toothbrush and felt you didn’t brush your teeth. She didn’t mean to rip your underwear. You knew you weren’t supposed to wear it with that outfit.”

I glare at him. “No I didn’t. I was not in the wrong. I’m sorry I was giving my sister privacy. She was naked! It was unnecessary for her to rip my underwear. She told me not to wear that outfit like underwear.” I close my eyes and sigh, “It’s done. Let’s not talk about it.”

I feel Alex’s hand on my arm. I look at him and see sympathy in his eyes. I glare at him and shrug his hand off. “I need a minute.” i walk to the back porch and sit down on the swinging  chair. I sigh. I hear the sound of my sister laughing. I look over and see her playing with her friends. I smile. She turns to me and her smile drops.

She runs over to me and jumps on top of me. “Abigail!” She wraps me in a hug.

I laugh. “Hear I thought you wouldn’t miss me.”

She glares at me. “Of course I would miss you. You’re my sister. No matter how annoying you are I love you.” She wraps her arms around my neck and stays like that. I hug her back.

She pulls away and looks at me. “I want to know why your hair has white streaks and why your eyes are blue.”

I sigh. “Clarissa, I can’t tell you right now. Maybe never. What happened to me was terrible. I don’t want you to even think about it.”

She frowns. “I’m sorry.”

I force a smile. “Don’t worry. I’m ok now.”

She smiles and hugs me again. “I’m glad. I missed you. Daddy and Mama have been worried about you. Mama blames herself for being to hard on you.”

I raise an eyebrow. “You sure about that?”

She nods. “It’s all she talked about. They didn’t sleep. Mama passed out from exhaustion not that long ago. Daddy put her in bed.”

I hear footsteps and the backdoor opens. “Abigail your moms awake.” Alex says.

I sigh. Clarissa clings to me and I smile picking her up. “Alex this is my sister Clarissa.”

Clarissa waves shyly and buries her face in my neck. Alex chuckles. I walk inside and my mom is standing there her eyes on me. Her eyes are full of skepticism.

I shift Clarissa’s weight to one hand and wave. “Hi.”

My mom’s eyes soften and tears glisten them. “Abigail.”

I nod. “Yeah that’s my name don’t wear it out.”

Clarissa rolls her eyes. “Be nice Abby. Mama’s been through a lot.”

I sigh. “Fine.”

I hear Alex choking back a laugh. I glare at him and he clear his throat trying to play it off. I set Clarissa down.

My mom looks at me with sad eyes. “What did they do to you?” She walks up to me and places a hand on my cheek. I pull her hand off.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” i say.

She frowns. “Why do you need a bodyguard?”

I sigh. “Mom I don’t want to talk about it.”

She glares. “I deserve to have a reason. You ran away. Because of that you get kidnapped and you come home looking like this.” She waves a hand at me.

I glare. “And who’s fault is that. Huh? I can tell you it isn’t mine.”

Anger flashes in her eyes. “Now you listen hear…”

I cut her off. “No you listen. I’m tired of the threats tired of hearing every little thing I do wrong. I did not run away. I went out for a walk so I wouldn’t do something I met regret later. It’s your fault I left not mine.” I say angrily.

Alex places a hand on my shoulder. “Abigail…”

I shrug his hand off my shoulder. “I don’t want to hear it Alex. In fact I think it would be best if I go on a walk. I know you need to come with me so let’s go.” I walk out not waiting for him to respond.

I hear dad and mom’s voice arguing when I leave.

Alex sighs behind me. “You should have handled that a little better.” He says.

I continue walking. “I told you. I told you!” I say turning to face him, “She blames me. You heard it.”

Alex sighs. “She’s just worried.”

I shake my head. “I can’t believe you.” I turn and walk without another word.

Alex groans. “I’m trying to give your mother some credit.”

I ignore him and continue walking.

He grabs my arm firmly stopping me. “You can’t stay mad at her. She’s your mom. She’s just doing what she thinks is right.”

I try to pull my arm away. “Let me go Alex.”

He shakes his head. “No Abigail. You need to go back. Your parents have been worried about you.”

I yank my arm again. “I said let me go.”

He gives me a stubborn look. “No.”

I glare at him a low growl rumbling in my throat. My ears pick up the sound of a bunch of cars. Alex hears it to and pushes me against a tree. My back hit’s the tree.

“What are you…?” He cuts me off placing his lips on mine.

I try to pull away but he keeps his lips firmly on mine keeping me pinned to the tree. I hear the sound of cars going by slowly. He runs his hands through my hair. Once the sound disappears he pulls away. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t let them see you.” He looks at me with apologetic eyes.

I look at him too stunned to speak.

He runs a hand through his hair and I can tell he’s feeling awkward.

I shake my head. “It’s fine. You could’ve warned me though.”

He smiles. “Now where’s the fun in that?”

I roll my eyes. “The part where I don’t kick you in the man area. I was just about to.”

He rolls his eyes. “No you weren’t.”

I raise an eyebrow. “Want to bet?”

He puts his hands up. “Ok fine. I’ll back off.”

I run a hand through my hand. “I should be mad. You just took my first kiss.”

He raises an eyebrow. “You serious?”

I roll my eyes. “No I’m just saying that to waste my breathe.” I say sarcastically. I sigh. “Yes you are my first kiss Alex.”

He smiles. “Your what 17 and you’ve never had a first kiss until now?”

I glare at him. “Yes because I was waiting until I found the right person. Excuse me for not kissing the first guy I see.” I walk away. I hear him follow me.

I sigh. “I can tell this is going to be a long few days. I have to have you up my crawl almost everywhere I go. No more privacy for me. Yay.” I roll my eyes.

“I am not that bad. If need be I can just treat you like I do the rest of my customers and just stay completely silent with you at school standing next to you. At home. If you go to sleep i stay right outside your door. Would you rather me be like that?” He asks.

I turn to face him. “I don’t know. It bothers me more than it ever has to have someone constantly next to me. I don’t like feeling helpless.” I rub my face, “I have things that bother me now that have never bothered me before and it’s stressful.”

He frowns. “I keep forgetting you’re new to this. That you had no clue supernatural even existed until a couple of days ago. Your wolf must have been at a high rank for you to not want someone to protect you or even want to feel helpless.”

I nod. “She says she was Beta when they took her from her pack. She was on patrol alone.”

Alex eyes widen slightly. “You can talk to your wolf?”

I nod. “Yeah.”

Alex is interrupted by what he was about to say when a door opens. My friend Jason walks out of his house and stops dead in his tracks when he sees me. He squints at me. “Do I know you? You look familiar.”

I smile. “I would think so. I mean we’ve been friends since I was in 9th grade.”

Jason wraps me in a tight hug. “We’ve been so worried. We heard something happened to you. What is wrong with your eyes and hair? Did you get contacts? DId your parent’s finally stop being so strict and let you dye your hair?”

I see Alex tense. Jason looks at Alex. “And who’s he? Is he bothering you? Do I have to beat him up? Was he the one that kidnapped you?”

I laugh. “One question at a time. Jeez. I swear you are worse than my mom. I can’t explain my eyes and hair. My hair wasn’t dyed. No I don’t have contacts. Shouldn’t even ask if my parents have stopped being strict. That is Alexander. He’s my bodyguard. You may have to beat him up. No he’s not the kidnapper.” I say ticking off each question.

Jason smiles. “I get to beat him up?”

I roll my eyes. Of course that’s the only thing he heard. “I mean you could try. I don’t know if you could. I wouldn’t try to stop you.”

Alex rolls his eyes. “Really Abigail? You know he would just be seriously injured if he tries right?”

I laugh. “You don’t know Jason like I do. When he wants to beat someone up he will.”

Jason smiles. “Anything for my little sis.”

I cross my arms. “Well aren’t I special. Go on before you’re late to work. I’ll see you at school tomorrow. I promise Alex won’t be with me.”

Alex puts his hand to his chest in mock offense. “You’ve wounded your bodyguard Abigail.”

I smile. “Good.”

Jason wraps me in a tight bear hug. “If you’re not at school tomorrow I’ll beat up Alex.”

I pull away. “Go. Shoo. I want you in your car and on your way to work.”

Jason rolls his eyes. “Still as bossy as ever.”

I stick my tongue out at him and he chuckles getting in his car. He drives away.

Alex smiles. “You like him.”

I nod. “Of course I like him. He’s my big brother. He’s graduating this year leaving me alone in school.”

Alex’s smile widens. “That’s not what I meant.”

I wrinkle my nose. “Ew no. I don’t like him like that.”

Alex winks. “Of course not.”

I roll my eyes. “You’re a very annoying bodyguard. Shouldn’t you be protecting me and not teasing and bullying me.”

He laughs. “You make it to easy.”

I stick my tongue out at him.

He raises an eyebrow. “Immature much?”

I shrug. “You’re annoying me.”

His face grows serious he can’t hide his playfulness that is in his eyes. “I am not annoying.”

I nod. “You’re extremely annoying.”

He crosses his arms. “You better take that back.”

I smile. “Or what?”

He starts walking toward me. I back up. “What are you doing?” I ask. He smiles and continues coming toward me. I keep backing up. “Alex.”

He quickens his pace. I quicken mine. I trip and fall to the ground. Alex looks down at me and smiles. “Take it back.”

I shake my head. “No.”

He bends closer to me. “I’ll give you one more chance to take it back.”

I shake my head. “I’m not taking it back Alex. Now leave me alone.” I go to push him away from me.

He grabs my wrists and puts them in one hand. “I warned you.” He starts tickling me.

I try to wiggle away but he won’t have it pinning my legs to the ground. “S-s-stop!” I say in between trying to breathe.

He shakes his head. “Say I’m not annoying and I’ll stop.”

I glare at him. He smiles and continues tickling me.

Soon I can’t even breathe let alone speak. He finally stops and I gasp gulping in air. He chuckles. “You’re very stubborn.”

I roll my eyes. “Just let me go. I still have school tomorrow which means more questions. I need extra sleep for that.”

He lets me go. “Your parents are probably worried.”

I sit up and punch him in the arm. He rubs his arm. “That actually hurt.”

I glare at him. “Good. I hate being tickled.” I start walking back to the house.

He walks next to me. “How can you hate being tickled?” He asks his face full of confusion.

I shrug. “I’ve never liked being tickled. Ever. My parents say that when I was younger I would kick and scream if anyone ever attempted to tickle me.”

He scrunches his eyebrows. “That’s weird.”

I roll my eyes. “Out of everything about me. Me not liking to be tickled os the thing you find weird about me.”

He shrugs. “The only weird thing about you that I know of right now.” He teases.

I smack him. “Says wolf boy.”

He smiles. “To wolf girl.”

I frown. “Yeah to man made wolf girl.”

He groans. “Your such a downer. Shush. You’re normal to me.”

I smile. “I’ll stop. For now.”

He smiles. “Good because if not I was going to tickle you again.”

I point at him. “Do that and you’ll never have to worry about ever having children.” I smile as his hands instinctively cover it up.

He frowns. “You’re mean.”

I laugh and open the front door. My mom is sitting on the couch and is up the minute we were back. “You shouldn’t leave like that. Do you remember what happened last time you ran away like that?”

Alex clears his throat. “Not to sound rude ma’am but for her health I think it best she rest. She’s been through a lot.”

My mom glares at Alex. “You don’t tell my how I should raise my daughter.”

I cross my arms. “Don’t talk to Alex that way. He’s doing his job. He’s also right. I’ve been through a lot. I need to go back to something normal which means going to sleep and getting ready to go back to school tomorrow. Now goodnight.” I walk upstairs.

Clarissa jumps on me and hugs me. “Goodnight Abby.”

I hug her back. “Goodnight.” I head to her room and place her on the bed. “I expect you to actually sleep tonight. No staying up and playing dress up with your dolls.”

She nods. “I know.”

I kiss the top her forehead then walk out cracking the door slightly before walking into my bedroom. I close my door and get changed into my pajamas. There’s a light knock on my door. I walk over and open the door. Alex is standing there. “Yes?”

He rubs the back of his neck. “I wanted to say goodnight. I also wanted to apologize. Your mom is a very annoying women.”

I laugh. “What did she say?”

He mocks my mom. “You are not to go anywhere near my daughter. You may be her bodyguard but that doesn’t mean I won’t whoop your ass if you try anything.”

I chuckle. “You wouldn’t listen. Let me guess she’s forcing you to sleep on the couch?”

He nods.

I shake my head. “Goodnight Alex. I’ll see you in the morning.”

He nods. “Goodnight.”

I close the door and head to bed. I sigh turning off my light. I close my eyes and slowly drift off to sleep.
