All my life, I've been a slave since I was fifteen.
Then, age fifty, and I'm still livin' the same life.

Now, age ninety, and I'm able to tell my story.
This is my mind as a slavery.

A story for Black History Month.
I dedicate this story to my father. Love you, Daddy!

9. Walk With Me, Lord

In loving memory of
Elizabeth "Libby" Dixon.

- - -

Walk with me, Lord, walk with me
Walk with me, Lord, walk with me
While I'm on this tedious journey, Lord
Walk with me, Lord, walk with me, Lord

Hold my hand, Lord, hold my hand
Hold my hand, Lord, hold my hand
While I'm on this tedious journey,
I want you to hold my hand, Lord, hold my hand,
Hold my hand, Lord, yeah

Walk with me, Lord, walk with me, yeah
Walk with me, Lord, walk with me, yes
While I'm on this, while I'm on this tedious journey, Lord
Walk with me, Lord, walk with me.

This song was my Aunt Libby's favorite song. I remember singing it with her. She was a huge impact in my life. She used to watch me and my little brother after school as kids while my parents were still working. During the summer of 2017, she got sick pretty badly. I was going through some rough times in my life and I wasn't there that much for her while she was sick. She died in September and every time I think of her, this song replays in my head, causing me to burst into tears while I'm singing it. I just wish I was there for her. I love you Elizabeth "Libby" Dixon.
