2. 2. (hey im trying rip)

I shake my head and take a sip of my coffee. Its probably just some new kid. Decided to start at the new semester. Smart. I rush off the bus and almost run into Parker. Perfect. The perfect boy to distract me. "Hey Leah." He kisses my head and wraps an arm around my shoulders. "Hey Park..." I lean into him as I sip my coffee. "Someone havin' a slow start?" He says, grabbing my thermos. I pout, reaching for my drink. He holds it higher up. "Yes... Give me my cup back Parker!" I chuckle as he holds it even higher up if possible. He's like a fucking tree. "Park I swear to god give me my cup back!" The blond kid from the bus walks by us. “Give her the cup back, jesus fuck.” The boy murmurs, shoving his hands in his hoodie pockets. Parker raises an eyebrow at me, handing me my coffee. “Do you know that Kid?” He asks, taking my free hand and leading me to where our small friend group hangs out in the mornings. “No. He was in my seat on the bus this morning but thats about it.” I sit down and dig in my backpack for a book that I needed to give back to Sarah. Our friend group consists of Sarah, a really tall, funny, feminist, woman of colour, Emily, a average height cheerleader whos really innocent and pure but will protect any of us, Marcus, an honor student with perfect grades whos to shy to ever talk to anyone else, Parker, my adorable, sweet, loving, passionate, feminist, smart, red head boyfriend and then me. We are kind of exclusive, but it doesnt really matter. Everyone is in Highschool. The kid looked around for the counselors office as I dug in my backpack. There was something diffrent to him... Almost as if I actually knew who he was. “Sarah... here’s your book. It was really interesting and something i could use for on my stupid English paper.” Marcus rolls his eyes. “The paper isnt that hard. All you have to do is analyze one character.” He takes the book and reads the back. “Says the Honor student.” Emily retorts. “You guys are lucky that you can take AP classes.... Cheer takes up too much of my time...” Today Emily’s light brown hair was pulled up in a curly high ponytail, the ends just barely hitting her purple knit sweater that she paired with dark blue skinny jeans. Sometimes I wonder if her little sister picks her clothes, because they were very similar styles. “Have you heard from your mom lately Lee? You said she tried to call you last week..” Sarah says, rubbing my back as we start to walk towards our class when the bell rang. “No... I think it was an accident and she realized how much she messed up by trying to call me.” I take another sip, passing the kid from earlier. I felt like I was going to end up seeing him everywhere. “That sucks. Im still pissed at her for leaving your dad then running to California.” Sarah says, turning the corner. “I’ll see you after AP Government. Bye!” I hug her quickly before walking into AP Gov. Theres a really small amount of us in the class. Like 13 to 14 kids. I normally sit by the door in the back. It makes me feel like I dont have to worry about seeing people look at my work. I get really conscious about that. I dont know why. The rest of the kids bustle in, all finding their seats. And then there was that damn blonde guy. I sigh and wait for Mr. Corkle to take role. When Leah Harper is called out I say here, almost a little too loud because then the damn blonde looks at me. Shortly after, Jake Rush is called. Jake Rush. The boy who was one of the best things that happened to me. We were best friends and then big crushes developed and then boom. We were dating for two years. Hugging, holding hands, small pecks between us here and there. My dad decided to move after my mom divorced him, so I didnt have much say. He said it would be good for us and I guess it was but it just had to be the year my brother left for college that we moved. The first two people I was closest to left me. Jake never tried to get back into contact me. No calls. No skypes. No emails. No texts. Not even a damn goodbye from the boy when I told his mom. I could feel him starring at me from his seat. I just stayed quiet and doodled all over my book while Corkle drowned on. I wasn’t going to let this kid ruin my Junior year. Im happy. I have a great boyfriend, a great dad, great friends, good job at Barnes and Nobles, an amazing cat, a horse. What else could I want? Nothing. And I don’t need some kid who wouldn’t even say goodbye to me to ruin that. At lunch I guessed I seemed spaced out because Parker forcibly kissed me. We rarely made out because it was sacred to us. Like we were scared to do something the other wouldn’t want. It was weird because all of our friends were there, but the kiss dragged on for what seemed like forever. My lips were tingly after he pulled away. “What was that for?” I asked, a slight blush on wiped across my cheeks. “I needed to pull my girl out from her daze.” I chuckle. “Thanks Park.” I pick at my pizza slice. “Warn us the next time you want to break out into full makeout mode.” Marcus laughs. “Hey at least I didnt get all up on his lap like someone did.” I point over to Emily. She was sitting in her boyfriend’s lap as they made out. They had been dating for as long as anyone could remember. They went to every dance together and were already planning their lives out, revolving around the other. “Yeah but their kisses are more emotionally based than sex based like yours was.” Sarah laughs. A few seconds later we all break out laughing. At the end of the day Jake tried sitting in the seat beside me but i had my stuff in the seat so he sat across from me. “Hey Leah...” He says quietly. I felt terrible, but it wasn’t my fault I moved. “Hi. Jake.” His name fell out of my mouth in a way I didn’t expect it too. “Its really really nice seeing you again... Do you want to hang out after school one day and catch up?” He asks, giving me the same damn smile he used to that just tugged at my heartstrings. He probably used it on whatever scamp he came across while we were apart. I hate him, so why am I agreeing to hang out with him?
