2. Chapter 1

Carla’s POV.

The rumours flew around school with everyone asking me if it was true. If what was true? I’d reply and they’d look at me as if I was dumb. Of course I wasn’t dumb, I just blocked everything out to do with One Direction. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the band and they have great music but when you’re Simon Cowell’s niece it can all get a bit too much with people wanting to be your friend just to get close to One Direction. One Direction have been a band for five years and I haven’t even met them! Anyway I just keep my head down and hang out with my best friend Lucy who is just like me.

“If someone asks me one more time if what Louis Tomlinson said was true, I swear I’m going to punch them.” Lucy said coming up to me and emptying her locker.

“What has he supposedly said?” I said, turning to put my books in my bag.

But Lucy didn’t have a chance to reply as the school bell rang and pupils filled the corridor ready to go home. Today was the last day of school for myself, Lucy and all the other year 13 students as we have a 3 month holiday before going to University.

I stepped out of school and breathed in the crisp fresh air of Manchester, and after saying goodbye to Manchester High School, Lucy and I walked out of the school gates for the last time.

It was only a 10 minute walk home. Lucy and I live next door to each other, so after arranging that Lucy would come over to my house tomorrow to discuss our summer holiday, we went into our houses.

Stepping into my house I noticed how quiet it was, my parents must be still at work. I walked into the kitchen and there on the table was a note to me from my parents saying that they had to speak to me when they got home about what I was doing for the summer holidays. I frowned. I knew what I was doing. Lucy and I had planned loads of stuff like girly shopping days and things like that.

I wondered upstairs and dumped my backpack in my room. The front door then banged shut meaning my parents must be home. I ran downstairs to see them in the kitchen. “How was school Car?” my dad asked me. I shrugged and said it was ok, then dad kept moaning that his girl was growing and will soon be going to the ‘big wide world’ to which I rolled my eyes at.

It wasn’t till we sat down for dinner that mum dropped the bombshell. “Uncle Simon called today.” Mum said putting her knife and fork down on her plate. Her and dad exchanged a look before she continued, “He wants you to spend the summer with him and meet One Direction.” My mouth dropped open. I hadn’t seen Uncle Si since I was 13 which was 5 years - I saw him just before One Direction went on X Factor. But wait a minute, what about my summer plans with Lucy? As if reading my mind, dad said “Lucy is invited as well.” I started to squeal and mum continued to explain that a car would come and pick us up tomorrow (1st July) and we would be in London till 1st September, with our A-Level results being emailed to us.

As I ran up the stairs to phone Lucy and pack, I started to think about how great this holiday would be.

I didn’t realise how wrong I was.
