THE DEALER

CHAPTER 16

JAYDE P.O.V

37 WEEKS PREGNANT

I had been feeling a ton of pain in my stomach so I had scheduled a doctors appointment and thankfully my doctor could take me right away. Julia was at work so I had my mom drive me. The entire drive I felt like I was going to vomit. I was in so much pain.

"Mills." The nurse called and I could just barely get out of the chair myself to walk into the back room. "How are you feeling?" She asked as she took my vitals.

"Exhausted, in extreme pain, want my back to fall out of my ass." I said truthfully. I was hot, I was in pain, I couldn't see my feet.

"That's normal at this stage." She commented as she wrote down a few things. "The doctor will be right in in the meantime why don't you take your pants off and put this over your legs." She smiled handing me a blanket.

I did my best to take my pants off myself and got back on the table and covered myself. Three knocks sounded on the door before my doctor came in smiling.

"How are you feeling today?" She asked.

"I'm in a lot of pain." I commented. "All in my stomach and vagina." I clarified where the pain was.

"Okay, I'm gonna check you and see if you're dilated at all." She commented as I laid back and she had me set my feet on the holders before checking me. "Okay, you're two centimeters dilated and about 60% effaced." She commented pulling her hand out, taking the glove off and washing her hands. "Let's do an ultrasound to see how baby is doing." She commented as she squirted the gel onto my stomach. "She's facing down."

"Does that mean she's going to be here soon?" I questioned.

"I'm gonna say within the next three days that you're going to be giving birth."

* FEW HOURS LATER*

For last hour I have been having weird contractions. They varied from being 5 minutes apart to sometimes ten minutes apart. I was squatting in the bathroom and that was somehow the only way to get the pain to subside.

"How are you feeling?" Julia asked when she got home from work. I was already exhausted I have no idea how I was going to give birth.

"Terrible." I grumbled. I had no idea how much longer I was going to be able to take this pain. I took a bath, I tried relaxing on my side, nothing helped.

"I'm gonna change and then we'll head over to the hospital." She said helping me get relaxed on the couch. She was gone for a few minutes before coming back down. She went out to the car before coming back for me. "Ready?" She asked and I nodded. I grabbed her hands as she helped me stand and get me into her car.

"Hold on." I commented as she was about to open the car door. I gripped her hand and struggled through a contraction. Once it relaxed, she got me in the car and we headed to the hospital.

"They can only keep you if you're 4 centimeters. If you're below that we have to go home." She commented.

"Well pray that I'm 5!" I shouted. She carried the bags as I walked into the hospital and up to the maternity floor.

"You are at 4 centimeters." A nurse confirmed. "Did your water break yet?"

"No." I commented.

"Alright we'll I'm gonna go get a room ready for you and I'll be right back." She commented before leaving. Julia already looked nervous.

"You should probably call mom, Mali and Joy." She commented to me. I texted them instead. I was in far too much pain to call them right now.

I was wheeled to a room and thankfully it was a single. Everyone hour the doctor came in and checked me. For the last hour I've been stuck at 5. The pain was killing me so I requested an epidural.

The doctor came back to check me and I was still on 5. I've been in active labor for about ten hours now and I was not having fun. I was tired and in pain. Thankfully the epidural was kicking in but I could still tell when I was having a contraction.

"I'm going to break your water and hope that it helps progress you." My doctor came in and told me. "If that doesn't work we're going to have to use Pitocin." I nodded as I relaxed. Feeling my water break was the weirdest thing in the world. Of course then I had to get off the bed so the nurses could clean it up.

Another hour later the doctor came back to check me.

"You're now at a seven." Thank god. "I'll back soon to check you again." Mali and Joy came through the door looking super excited.

"How's it going?" Joy asked kissing my head.

"We're getting there. I'm seven centimeters dilated." I smiled. I tried my best to rest knowing that the pushing was going to be the worst part. I've been in labor nearing 20 hours and I just needed her here.

About an hour later I felt a terrible pressure and made Julia rush off to get a nurse. I felt like I needed to push and I was trying my best not to but I couldn't help it. A nurse came rushing in and was shocked.

"I need a doctor!" She shouted before not even bothering to wash her hands and putting gloves on. Mali was standing beside me shocked at what was happening. My doctor came into the room and put gloves on.

"Looks like we're having a baby." I smiled. "Ladies can someone hold her legs?" He asked. Julia and Mali both grabbed one of my legs while Joy took pictures. I didn't mind if they stayed I just hoped they didn't mind seeing a human come out of me. "Okay, push for ten seconds."

I pushed as hard as I could as I gripped the back of my knees for support. The epidural was beginning to wear off and I could feel her coming out.

"There's her head." The doctor said. Both Julia and Mali had a front row seat to my vagina.

"Oh my god, Jayde! She's so close to being here." Julia cried. "Keep pushing." I pushed as hard as I could. "Her heads out." Jayde told me.

"Push really hard." The doctor said. Like I wasn't already doing that buddy. I did my best to push harder but it seemed as if the doctor did most of the work of getting her the rest of the way. I laid back as he placed her on my chest and the nurses right away went to cleaning her off.

"Oh my god." I cried looking down at her. The poor thing had a cone head from sitting in my vagina for so long. "I can't believe I just did that." I laid my hand on her back.

"That was amazing." Mali said looking at her. "She has Calum's huge nose." I laughed. She was perfect.

"Do we have a name for this cutie?" A nurse asked.

"Violet Mae." I smiled. I held her as the doctor stitched me but then the nurses took her away to take measurements and get her more cleaned off.

Once everything calmed down and I was stitched and my bed was changed, the nurse brought Violet to me.

"Wanna do skin to skin?" She asked.

"Sure." I unclipped the gown and she set her on me. I feel head over heels in love with her. She was so perfect. "How much does she weight?"

"7 pounds 11 ounces." The nurse confirmed. I ran my finger over her cheek and I just couldn't imagine not having her here with me. If we had been more careful this beautiful baby wouldn't be here and I was so thankful for her. She was a blessing and I was going to forever be thankful to Calum for giving her to me.

*CALUM P.O.V*

"Calum?" Mali said into the phone.

"Hi." I said. "What's up?"

"Jayde just gave birth." She whispered. I was shocked. "We're at the hospital if you want to come see her."

"Holy crap." I commented. "Yeah, yeah I'll be right there." I rushed trying to find my pants and a shirt. "Bye." I hung up and got dressed. "Ashton!" I shouted and he came running into the room.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Jayde just gave birth." I rushed. "We have to go to the hospital." I nearly ran down to his car and he was behind me. When we got to the hospital I ran in asking for her room. We both ran up to her room but slowed before we got there. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

"Calum." Jayde looked shocked to see me. "Hi."

"Hi." I walked into the room. Mali was holding the baby. My baby. Our baby. "How come you didn't call me while you were in labor?" I questioned. She stayed silent and looked to my mom.

"Don't worry about that, Honey. Would you like to meet your daughter?" I wasn't sure if that was something I wanted. I was a little freaked out. There was a person who was an hour old over there that belonged to me.

I slowly walked over to Mali who had the baby resting in her arms and she offered her to me.

"No." I shook my head. "I just want to look." I commented. Mali moved her so I could see her face better. She pulled the blanket down so I could see her full face and popped the hat off her head. She was beautiful. It was all a little overwhelming.

Ashton talked with Jayde for a few minutes before coming over and sitting on the other side of Mali.

"Isn't she cute?" Mali gushed making me smile.

"She is." Ashton commented.

"Wanna hold her?" Mali asked him and he nodded his head. The baby let out a little cry as she passed to Ashton who gently rocked her and shushed her. She seemed to calm down in Ashton's arms.

Mali took a few pictures of them together and Ashton looked a proud uncle. A nurse came in to check on Jayde and the baby and handed Ashton a bottle.

"Is it okay if I feed her?" Ashton asked.

"Knock yourself out." Jayde commented. "I'm gonna try to catch some sleep. Stay as long as you want." She smiled at us.

Jayde slept for a few hours and both Mali and Ashton looked exhausted.

"Wanna get going?" Ashton asked me as Mali and my mom left.

"No. I'm gonna stay." I reached out to take the baby from him. She seemed extremely small in my arms.

"You sure?" He asked.

"Yeah. Take a few pictures of me with her." I handed him my phone. Holding her seemed unreal. How could she actually be here? He took a few pictures for me.

"If you need anything call me." He said before leaving. I rested the baby on my chest and it just felt right to have her there.

The next morning I woke up and the baby was gone. Jayde was sitting up in bed feeding her a bottle.

"Good morning." She smiled at me. I sat up and wiped my mouth.

"Morning." I rubbed my eyes and stood up walked over to the bed. We both watched the baby before Jayde burped her and then set the bottle to the side.

"Do you wanna hold her while I go to the bathroom?" She asked.

"Of course." I smiled taking her before Jayde called for a nurse. The nurse helped her to the bathroom and showed her how to clean herself before helping her back.

Her doctor came in a few minutes later for her to sign paperwork and to let her know that they would both be going home tomorrow.

All day nurses were in and out checking on Jayde and the baby.

"Did you name her?" I asked.

"Violet Mae." She commented. I ran my fingers through the brown hair on the top of her head. There wasn't much but it was so cute. "I hope she get's your curls." She smiled at me.

"I'm sorry." I commented and she looked confused.

"About what?"

"Not being here when you needed me. I was selfish and only thinking about myself." I commented handing her the baby. I wanted to be here for them. In whatever way she wanted me to be. "I want to be here."

"Took you long enough." My dad commented as he came into the room and came over to the bed. "Hello, my grandbaby. You're very beautiful." He smiled. Jayde handed her to him and he walked around the bed to sit down. "I can't believe I'm a grandfather." He said.

"I can't believe I'm a dad." I commented. My parents visited for an hour before Julia and Luke came to see the baby. I ran down to get Jayde and myself something to eat from the cafe. When I came back up she was resting and the baby was gone.

"Where's the baby?" I questioned setting the food down.

"They took her for a bath and some tests."

"Thought she couldn't have a bath until the belly button thing fell off?"

"They're just giving her hair a wash. You know to get the vagina smell off her." She said making me laugh. She looked over at me. "I'm so thankful that you're here." She whispered reaching her hand out to grab mine. I held her hand and leaned down and kissed her.

"I love you." I whispered resting my forehead on hers. She didn't respond but she closed her eyes and smiled. Somehow in that moment I knew that I was suppose to be here. I was meant to have a child with her. I was meant to be a dad.
