The Rhyme of the Crows

~~"One for sorrow,
two for mirth,
three for funeral,
four for birth,
five for silver,
six for gold,
and seven for a secret never to be told."~~
Then the screams started.

3. Chapter 3

The door opening revealed a woman, who looked about ten years older than myself. She stepped in and looked at her watch. "Well look at the time! I guess it's time for another Relocation Aptitude. Shall we start?" she said. I looked at her in confusion. She hit her hand to her forehead and said, "Silly me! I always forget! My name's Luna, and I'll be initiating your test today. Please lay down on the table, Stardust, head towards my end."

I'm still confused, but I lay down on the table where she says. Luna flicks her wrist and an air hollo pops up. She taps something and one of the vials to my left fills up with a black liquid. She taps another thing on the air hollo and a screen pops up mid air, floating and rippling as air moves through it. She uses her fingers to enlarge it, then goes back to the air hollo. She taps the hollo, and straps spring out from under the table, then they spring around me, strapping me down.

I cry out from the tightness of the straps and say, "What the hell are the straps for?!"

Luna looks at me pitifully and says, "Sorry, dear, but it's just a precaution for the testing. We don't need you escaping from the stimulation."

I look at her like she's insane. Well, from the information I have, she kind of is. "Stimulation?" I screech. "You are going to be doing what? Can you explain some of this to me?"

She sighs and picks up the vial of black liquid. "Inside this liquid is a transmitter, which will connect to your brain and my air screen. This liquid will cause the Relocation Aptitude stimulation, which will determine your city and your purpose, etcetera etcetera. Is that enough for you, Stardust?" I nodded, pleased with the amount of given information. "I will inject you with the serum, which will go into effect in fifteen seconds. Good luck, Stardust."

Without warning, she grabbed my head and pushed it, my cheek against the right side of the table. She held up the syringe filled with the black liquid, tapped it with her finger, and plunged the needle into the side of my neck. I cried out again.

Luna pulled out a piece of cloth and stuffed it into my mouth. I sputtered, and she said, "Sorry about that, Stardust, but it's just protocol." She stood up, then left through red door. The screen was floating directly over my head, and it read: 'RELOCATION APTITUDE TESTING WILL BEGIN IN 5, 4, 3, 2, 1."

My vision went black.
