Sherryn-

There wasn't anything new at school. Students kept asking Toby what was wrong with him yesterday, and his stalker, Melanie, wouldn't stop asking him if he was going to be at the party tomorrow. I gave Maurice a blowjob in the girls' bathroom. I didn't tell Toby because he gets angry at me when I do that. No, I don't do it all the time, so don't start thinking I'm a slut.

What's really weird is that Amanda has caught interest in Toby again. It's freaked me and Toby out that she's all of a sudden, not a psycho and cares about him again. I don't trust the bitch.

Monica hasn't bullied anyone that much since Toby confronted her that day. Now that I think about it, it's starting to really annoy me that girls keep flocking around Toby like he's some little child or something. I'm not jealous or anything just really pisses me off.

Like, we get it, you're all desperate to get in bed with him. He's not going to do it, so go slut around with some other guy who's willing to get in bed with you!

When school was over, we walked to the nearest drug store. I told him that I needed new makeup and he said he was craving for a Snickers bar. As I'm looking for a certain type of concealer, I realize I didn't have enough money. I turn to Toby who was very interested in the different shades of matte lipstick.

"Toby," I whisper-shout. He practically throws the lipstick back onto the shelf with a guilty expression on his face.

"I-I wasn't looking at them, I didn't do anything." He quickly answers. I give him a weird look.

"Toby shut the fuck up." His turns a shade red.

"Okay." I roll my eyes.

"How much money do you have?" I ask him. He pulls out his wallet and pulls out a five dollar bill.

"Fuck," I curse under my breath.

"Why, don't have enough?" He asks. I nod. He gives me a mischevious grin.

"You could always shoplift it." Then walks away with his hands behind his back and starts whistling like he didn't say anything. I grin and shake my head. Idiot, I think. I look around for cameras and surprisingly they don't have cameras facing this aisle. I grab the concealer, a tube of mascara, and a couple of lipsticks that I want and quickly peel off the serial numbers so the alarm doesn't go off. Then I shove them in my pants and walk around like nothing just happened. I look around for Toby and he's in another aisle looking at toothpaste. He sees me and nods his head towards the door with his eyebrows raised. You ready? He's basically asking. I nod. He walks up to me and grabs my hand so we don't look suspicious. The cashier watches us as we walk out. When I walk past the alarm monitor, nothing happens. As soon as I step outside, I sigh.

"Oh my gosh, that was so scary." Toby laughs.

"Why? We do this all the time." I shrug.

"True. But it's just my human conscious in me that gets me all scared." He nods.

"True. I understand what you mean." After walking for a block, I realize that Toby and I are still holding hands. I cough and let go of his hand and act like I needed to scratch my neck. I can see him out of the corner of my eye, staring at me then turns and faces forward. I feel my face start to burn. That was really... weird, I think. I turn and look at Toby.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"I need to buy a pocket knife." I give him a weird look.

"Why?" I ask. He shrugs.

"Because they're cool. You remember when my dad wasn't a drug addict, he used to have collections of pocket knives and would give them to my older brother, Trey when we were younger?" I nod.

"Well, my dad never gave me one because of, you know, so I'm going to buy myself one and start my own collection." I smile. We walk into Walmart and go to the aisle that has pocket knives. When Toby finds the one he wants, we go to the front to pay. I look at the time on my phone.

"Hey, Toby we should probably get going. I wanna see my mom before she leaves for work." He nods.

"Okay. Well, can you stop by my place real quick?" I nod.

"Sure." We leave Walmart and start our walk at Toby's house. When we get inside, we see smoke filling the room. We look in the living room and it's his dad and mom, smoking. His mom has a blunt in her mouth while her dad takes a huge chug of alcohol. My eyes grow and I look at Toby. He's angry, I can tell. His mom looks at us and her face drops.

"Toby." She drops the blunt and tries to walk to us, but stumbles.

"Hey! Be careful with this. It cost a lot of money to get," His dad says. She tries to place her hands on Toby's shoulder, but he pushes her away.

"Toby, please-" He shakes his head.

"No. You said you were t-trying to change." His voice cracks. I look at him and he has tears falling down his face. Seeing him like this causes me to get teary-eyed too.

"Oh, quit with your baby crying. You're always actin' like a girl," His dad says. Toby glares.

"Shut up," He says, through clenched teeth.

"What'd you say, boy?" His dad gets up and walks towards us, getting in Toby's face.

"John, stop," Toby's mom says, placing an arm between him and Toby. I just stand there, with tears, backed in the corner.

"I said, shut. Up." Toby takes a step closer to his dad. He's a little shorter than him, but you can't really tell. His dad chuckles. Then out of nowhere, he hits Toby upside the head with the bottle he was drinking from. I scream as Toby drops to the floor.

"John!" I hear Toby's mom yell. After that everything seems to move in slow motion as I bend down to check on Toby. I place a hand on the scar, but he moves my hand away.

"I'm fine," He mumbles. I wipe my tears away.

"A-are you sure?" He looks at me with concern. Why is he looking at me like that when he's the one that got hit? I think.

"You should go home. I don't want you seeing this." I shake my head.

"No. I need to be here for you so he doesn't do anything else." He stands up, helping me up as well.

"I'm serious, Sherr. I don't want you here witnessing this. Please just go. I'll come over tomorrow morning. I promise." I nod, even though my first instinct is to argue. I turn and glare at his parents who are in the kitchen arguing. I walk out the front door and start my journey back home. I couldn't understand why Toby's parents would do this to him. His older brother died three years ago. They should've had whatever issue they were dealing with, fixed because they have another son. Toby. He should be their main priority now.

I finally make it home and walk up the stairs to my apartment. When I open the door, Kyle is passed out on the couch with the TV still on. I quietly close the door so I won't wake him up and tiptoe towards my room. But I must not have been quiet enough because Kyle wakes up.

"Huh? Agh, what the hell do you think you're doing? You come home late, looking at gross. Where have you been?" I stop walking and sigh before turning around.

"I was with Toby." He scoffs.

"You're always with that boy. Are y'all dating now? I know y'all are fucking. You have to be. I ain't ever seen a boy and a girl hang with one another every day unless the sex is good." Then he laughs. I grimace.

"For the last time, we're not having sex. You haven't been in my life that long, so you wouldn't understand. Toby and I have been best friends since the third grade. Nothing more." He snorts.

"Yeah right." I sniff and turn back around and walk back to my room.

"Where do you think you're going?" He calls back to me.

"I'm going to my room," I say. I hear him walking towards me.

"No, you're not. I'm talking to you." I quickly pick up my pace and run to my room. I slam it shut and lock it. Seconds later, I hear Kyle banging on the other side of the door.

"Open this fucking door, girl! Right now!" I lean on it, and bury my head into my knees, covering my ears. Go away! I think as Kyle continues for the rest of the night banging on my door.

------------------------------------

It's a little short, not as long as I'd like it to be. Let me know what you thought of it. I had someone give me critic feedback on my last chapter and it was a major motivation to try harder in my stories. So please give me more feedback on what I'm lacking and what I could work on better. Thanks for reading! xo
