7. Question

“Georgia is going to tell us all about her date!” I say with a smile, turning back to my eggs.

“Woo! Let’s hear all about it, G” Justin says sitting down at the dining table. I load the eggs on a plate and pop the bread into the toaster.

“It was so good! We ate at a family restaurant and we talked the whole time. Then we took a walk by the lake and we held hands!” Georgia sighs, a dreamy look in her eyes.

She grabs some plates and forks and sets them on the table. I follow behind her, putting down the plates of food.

“That looks so good, sweetie.” Justin says, serving himself. He smiles at me before he takes a bite and I smile back. I hear the toast pop up and I retrieve it along with peanut butter and strawberry jam.

As I sit down and serve myself, “That’s so cute! What else?”

Georgia swallows her bite, “Then as we were saying our goodbyes, he kissed me! It was amazing,” She wraps her arms around herself and grins from ear to ear. “And we have another date on Tuesday!”

I gasp, “But that’s in two days!”

She lifts her arms in the air, “I know! What am I going to wear?!”

“Oh no! Not this shit again,” Justin says, running a hand down his face. Georgia and I look at each other and giggle. “Both of you look beautiful no matter what you wear.”

Georgia finishes eating and picks up her plate. “You are just mad because I have to steal her away again,” she yells as she puts her plate in the sink. “Besides she was mine first!”

He shrugs, “You aren’t wrong but please don’t take too long, I have something to ask her.” I smile as he follows Georgia into the kitchen. He appears seconds later and kisses my forehead.

“I’m gonna go shower. Come to my room when you’re done helping Georgia.” I nod. He grins and heads down the hall. I clean up, putting the dishes in the sink and condiments away in the fridge.

Georgia turns on the water and starts the dishes. “What do you think he’s going to ask you?” She asks, curiously.

I sit on the counter, “I don’t know.”

Suddenly she spins around, her eyes are wide. “You don’t think he’s going to ask you to marry him?!”

I roll my eyes and groan, “Of course he is. We haven’t even gone on one date. That would be the most logical thing to do,” I reply with sarcasm.

Georgia turns back to the dishes and shrugs, “You never know.”

“Honestly, G. Where do you get these ideas?”

“Hey, you don’t know until he asks so it’s still a possibility,” she says, defensively.

“Yeah, but a small one.”

“True.”

“Need me to rinse?”

“Please.”

I hop off the counter and stand next to her. I rinse off the dishes and set them in the dish drying rack.

I brush through my wet hair, humming to myself. I put down my brush and slide my feet into my black flats. I grab my purse and head down the hall. I knock on Justin’s door, he opens it a few seconds later.

“Hey, babe.”

“Hey, come on in.” He steps aside and gestures to his room. He smiles and his eyes are bright.

“I’m sorry but I’m running late. I have dinner with parents in ten minutes.” I frown, “Can I stop by your room when I get home?”

His smile drops, “Yeah.. Of course.”

I give him a quick hug and a peck on the lips. “Thanks for understanding. I’ll bring you some dessert!” I start walking down the hall, “I’ll see you later!”

“See you.” He yells after me.
