Tick Tock

Tick tock goes the clock
And what then shall we see?
Tick tock until the day
That thou shalt marry me
Tick tock goes the clock
And what now shall we play?
Tick tock goes the clock
Now Summer’s gone away?
Tick tock goes the clock
And all the years they fly
Tick tock and all too soon
You and I must die
Tick tock goes the clock
He cradled and he rocked her
Tick tock goes the clock
Even for the Doctor…
Tick tock goes the clock
And all the years they fly.
Tick tock, and all too soon
Your love will surely die.
Doctor brave and good
He turned away from violence
When he understood
The falling of the Silence

2. Keep your Promises

Tick Tock goes the clock

And what then shall we see?

Tick tock until the day

That thou shalt marry me.

The Doctor steps off his TARDIS and breathes in the salty sea air. He turns back to see River standing in the TARDIS door…all dressed up for a date…that’s not really a date. He takes River’s hand and kisses it before helping her step into the sand. She turns to him and he smiles at her curly hair…she’s tamed it today. He picked her up at Stormcage and didn’t say a word. He scanned her to make sure it was the right time. It was the right time but spoilers.
“Dr. Song.” She turns to him and frowns. He’s never called her that before.

“I have a question.” She pulls him into an embrace and he stares into her eyes. He’s turned on by her but he must refrain himself from any hasty decisions.

“What my dear doctor?”

“Are we married yet? In your timeline.” She smiles and replies with a simple answer.

“Spoilers.” She kisses his lips and then he bites his lip before asking a question.

“River…today is…the day…when you marry me. Will you Dr. Song…River, Melody Pond…will you marry me? He gulps and fears her answer. She tugs on his bowtie and brings his lips to hers. She softly kisses them, as to tease him. He puts his hand on the small of her back and she runs her fingers through his hair. When the kiss breaks she gives a sly grin and asks.

“Does that answer your question?” He nods and brings her in for another kiss. After a series, of kisses. The ceremony, the very private ceremony in front of the ocean…on the sandy beach begins. They wrap his bowtie around their hands…they exchange names and then the Doctor pulls out two ring boxes. He slips the silver ring with the sprinkle of diamonds onto her finger and she slips the black one onto his. After the rings, she says something that shocks him completely.

“You know, we can’t wear these all the time.”

“We can when we’re apart and when we know we’re married. I’ll keep track if you will.”

“I have to go back to Stormcage. This wedding was beautiful…you set it up perfectly.”

“River, I want to say something before you go.”

“Go ahead.” She kisses his cheek and he talks as they stroll down the beach and back to the TARDIS. Husband and wife…not knowing what the future holds and the Doctor not knowing he’s altered the future in such a tiny way that it makes the biggest difference.

“River…I’ve known you your entire life. You were raised to kill me, I never thought my killer would end up marrying me. I’ve watched you grow up and I want to spend the rest of our lives together. If you’ll have me.”

“I already have you Doctor and you’ll always be mine.” She kisses his cheek and he locks her back into her cell. He strides to the TARDIS but River begins speaking. He pauses and doesn’t turn around but listens. He knows she probably has tears staining her face.

“I’ve fallen out of savor and I’ve fallen out of grace.

I’ve fallen out of trees and I’ve fallen on my face.

I’ve fallen out of taxis and out of windows too.

I fell in your opinion when I fell in love with you.”

The Doctor turns and watches as River’s tears stream. He runs up to the bars that separate them and kisses her lips. Before he goes he turns and says.

“One day River, I promise I’ll take you out of here and you’ll never come back.” She smiles and says.

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”

“Oi, this is one promise I intend to keep.”

“Don’t keep me waiting too long, you tend to lose track of time.”

“I’ll come back, I promise. I love you River Song.” He turns around and walks into his TARDIS. He doesn’t see her tears of happiness.
