The Hidden Life of Rowena Foribe * NANOWRIMO 2017*

The life of a witch who had lived most of her life without knowing who or what she truly is. Upon walking into a classroom and getting a project she dives deep into her family history. Finding things that she didn't know and overhearing things that she shouldn't know about. Seeing things that she shouldn't. She is about to turn 15 years old and that is when the first sighs of a witch come out. She can choose to go with them and see where the journey will take her or she can be like her family and turn her back on the Goddess and magic and powers. Rowena is just a normal 14-year-old high school student. Slacking in a few classes but good on most of her classes. Rowena has a few friends but her best friend that she tells everything, Eva Flixnet, who is in most of her classes.

5. Telling a Friend

"Okay fine. I guess I don't have a choose in the matter," I sighed and stood up. Eva stood up with me and walked with me to my room. Plopping down on my bed, I looked at her dead in the eyes and told her the truth. "I overheard my mom and dad talking about me right outside my room. Which I like because of the thin walls. I learned a few secerts from there talk. They were talking about me. More importantly about my 15th birthday They say that something is going to change on my 15th birthday. And my dad wants my mom to tell me because I have her in me and I am taking on after her," I paused and just let her take in what I was telling her. "And when I looked up my last name only a few things showed up with it. Most involved something that had nothing to do with my family. But when I looked up 'Foribe witches'. Only because most had mentioned witches. I looked it up and only one site came up. It even gave me a warning. It had my name in it Eva. My name, a picture of my mother with her mother was on this site. I think my mom was about to turn 15 years old. My mom told me that one my birthday I would have a picture taken of us together and only us," I said in a panic

"Okay so your mom wants a picture taken of when you grow up, big deal," Eva said unsurprised

"You just don't get it! Witches! I am in a family of WITCHES! My mom is a witch, my mom's mom was a witch. I am going to be a witch!" I almost screamed. Eva walked away with her hands held up almost afraid. I pressed a thumb to my head and closed my eyes taking a deep breath to try and cool off. "Okay I am good. It's just that I don't know what to do," I said and looked over to Eva. She raised an eyebrow at me. "Okay fine I am in big trouble and all of this is just happening way too fast for my mind to make any type of sense. It's all just so confusing," I told her wanting to scream, and pull my hair out.

Eva just calmly nodded and said nothing to me at all. I was dumbstruck that she wasn't saying anything about my outbreak, but she was clam about it. She just pulled out my computer and typed in my pass word easily. I leaned against my wall closed my eyes again. I was cooling myself off. She tapped my shoulder and showed me a shop front. I looked at her confused she smiled and pointed at the screen again. I looked closer trying to see what she was on about. It was a witch store called Isis Books and Gifts. I was still confused. She rolled her eyes and told me, " It's a witch store. It is meant for a witch. I am sure they could answer any of your questions that I can't answer with a fast google search." I got her meaning after that. She wanted us to go to that store and find out what was going on with me and my mom.

"Okay so how about another day? We could just go down together and find out all of this stuff," Eva told me after about an hour of trying to find more about this place. So far, we had gotten an address and that's about it. Eva and I had been talking a lot about this.  She was trying to get me to go right when my mom and dad got home, but I was telling her that it would be a bad idea. I was going to get my own bus pass in a few days and once I did we could go and check the place out. Eva agreed so long as it was soon.

My mom and dad got home soon aft er Eva left with her dad. They asked what I had done all day and it was the normal boring conversation with my mom throwing glances at me, but my phone buzzed again. I picked it up and everything in the kitchen went off. The blender started to go and the microwave started to beep. The oven was flashing on and off. My mom and dad looked around with wide eyes. Both of their eyes landed on me as they said nothing. I looked at my phone over all the noise. When I put my phone down everything went back to normal. I looked up and saw that my dad and mom were looking at me to see what else I was going to do."Yes?" I asked them. At my voice they zoned back into what they were doing, not talking to me.

I was thinking mostly about what would happen if went to that wiccan shop that was into town a way. I really didn't want to go but knew that I was going to end up going at some point. If Eva didn't make me curious would force me to go and find out. Although never seemed to be getting in me way. I pushed that aside as I pushed in my chair from getting up. I was done with dinner if no one was going to talk to me. I looked over at the dishes and snapped my fingers. Without turning back, I walked away not knowing that the sink started to clean the dishes for me. It was my turn to do dishes. My mom yelled at me to get back and do the dishes myself. I didn't know what she was talking about but kept moving forward and up the steps to me room. I didn't want to deal with anyone right now. Eva was going to make me go to a shop that I don't want to go to, and my mom was telling me to get away from something that is my birth right. It seems that Eva is pushing me but my mom is holding me back.

I sat on my bed watching a small glass of water twirl around and around without anything moving or forcing it to spin. I knew that I was getting angry at what I was doing when the class started shaking more and more. A knock on my door tore my gaze away from the glass and my mom was staring at the glass doing something to it. I looked over to it and saw nothing. She sighed and looked over towards me. She walked closer to me making me feel slightly angry at her. The water started to shake again. She stopped and the water stopped. "Okay. So, what do you know?" She asked me.

Almost fuming I told her, "I know a lot more then you think. I can do that," I pointed at the glass of water as it started to move again. My mom watched it muttering something under her breath. When she wouldn't look at me again angry got the best of me and a fire started on just the surface of the water. She jumped up in shock. I almost jumped up at the site of water on fire but it went out. My mom looked at me shocked before she left the room. "Okay then," I muttered to myself. Snatching my phone up I open the chat room and started to chat with Eva.

Rowena- I think something is changing.

Eva - …

Rowena – I just did something that I thought was impossible

Eva -  …

Rowena – You there?

Eva – Yeah, I am. Just busy hold up.

Rowena – Okay. I hope you're going to tell me about this thing you're doing...

Eva – Feeding a cat! Okay Rowena hold up!

Rowena – Someone is snappy.

Eva -  Sorry.

Rowena – You done feeding your cat?

Eva – Yeah. So, what was going on.

Rowena – I lite water on fire and I was making the water spins. I don't know what is happening.

Eva – Wow. Wanna meet up at the café near you and go to the book store now?

Rowena – I don't have a choice.

Eva – Great meet in 20 mins?

Rowena – Sure.

I put the phone on the charger and looked outside. It didn't even look six yet. I was sure that no one would mind if I went out for a few hours. I got a small backpack and asked my mom for some bus money to and from the café and I asked my dad for some shopping money that way I could get a book or two. He gave my $20 and my mom gave me four dollars. Making sure that it was enough for the bus fare
