1. The Journey of a Red Blood Cell

I wake up in bone marrow. I realize that this is the start of my three to four month life. I am a Red Blood Cell, and this is my story. I was a small blood cell smaller than the average blood cell, but I was happy to start a new life. I start my journey around the body within the capillaries.

After a while, I enter the heart through a vein in the heart. Dropping off some oxygen for the body, I get pumped out of the heart, on my way to the lungs.

I soon arrive at the lungs. Picking up some oxygen, I move on to the next part of the body. Even though I could barely carry O2 I was excited to return to the heart.

I go through the vein and enter the heart. I drop off the oxygen, and the heart pumps it through the body again. I have given the body oxygen twice now, and it's time to do it all over again!
