Once among the juniors I began analysing every girl and boy who came in to contact with me. There were young men and women from every corner of the island.

From marine communities in coastal areas, from agricultural communities in hinterland, from war-torn communities in northern and eastern provinces of the country, from urban communities within skyscrapers, the new batch represented every facet of the country's ethnicity, culture, and religion. It was a job to keep track on them.

In relief times I went to washrooms with the new boys and listened to their animated curses flung at us freely.

I realized the lack of comradeship among them and that there was nothing for us to fear about that popular fantasy among seniors about a junior-uprising.

I noted the most disagreeable of them - careless youngsters with funny notions which would bring catastrophic calamities to both juniors and seniors alike, if not terminated then and there.

I supplied all vital info to my batch mates every evening via text messaging. The disagreeables were subjected to public humiliations right next to appalling. Then they started behaving well.
