9. Campus Platoon Steps In

Neksha's guys were punctual. I had a chance to size them up so I could make a good guess on what I am up against and what I am equipped with. Meryl and Dough were both beefy. Renegen was tall and lean with two front teeth missing. Neksha did the introductions. We shook hands.

An hour later I sought out Dinukha in the auditorium and after an animated discussion with him about "latest" trigonometry equations Imiha had taught the juniors, I coaxed him to have a cup of tea. Happily he was in an agreeable mode.

Our walk ended in the deserted parking lot abutting block Zero. The moment Dinukha walked in, I closed and locked the door and leaned against it.

"So Mr. Mysterious," I said gently, "the fun begins".

Renegen dived at him from behind and Dinukha was too slow to respond, his head snapping to one side as the blow landed on the nape of his neck.

At the same time Meryl came round a parked car in lightening speed and kicked him hard on the stomach, the force of the pile-driver lifting the burly bulk of Dinukha Junior clean off the concrete floor.

Dough stepped out from nearby shadows and dug both elbows on either side of the pelvis as Dinukha staggered like a drunkard.

Then he suddenly went limp and started falling like a log. But we caught him and manhandled him up into the back of the waiting battered van which was the proud property of Neksha.

He was already reviving up the engine behind the wheel - grinning from ear to ear.

"Go man go", said Renegen as we flung opened the side doors and jumped inside. Neksha took a crazy U turn nearly overturning the vehicle and "vroooooommm...!", it roared out of the car park with its passengers heartily cursing the driver as they tried to regain balance against violent tossing. Neksha was notoriously famous for reckless driving, purposefully ignoring bumpers.
