SCENE SEVEN

 

THE LADS IGNORE JULIE AND CARRY ON DRINKING.

ALAN GETS UP FROM THE TABLE THEN TAKES THE PACK OF CARDS AND THE PEG BOARD AND REPLACES THEM IN THE CUPBOARD.

HE THEN COLLECTS THE EMPTY GLASSES FROM THE TABLE AND PLACES THEM ON THE BAR AND THEN SITS BACK DOWN.

 

THE LAST RACE OF THE AFTERNOON GETS UNDER WAY AND ALL THE LADS ARE FOCUSSED ON THE TELEVISION.

 

ALAN:

‘This one’s just a short race, a mile I think.

 

IAN:

Yes it is mate, I checked.

 

LARRY:

‘I’ve got Cousteau in this one, what have you got?

 

DICK;

‘Double Click’ he got Frankie Detori on his back.

 

 

ALAN:

‘I’ve gone for Marshal Law.’

 

DICK:

‘I should have gone for that, being my name is Marshall.’

 

THE TELEVISION COMMENTATOR GOES THROUGH THE FINAL STAGES OF THE RACE AND IT ‘S COUSTEAU WHO ROMPS IN AT ELEVEN TO ONE.

MARSHAL LAW IS SECOND, DOUBLE CLICK’ FOURTH.

 

JULIE:

‘Come on you lads have you no homes to go to, please see your drinks off.

 

DICK, ALAN, AND IAN THROW THEIR NEWSPAPERS AT LARRY WHO WAS SITTING LAUGHING WHEN HIS HORSE ROMPED IN.

 

LARRY:

‘Thhat’s a bbit strong.

 

THE LADS ALL FINISH THEIR DRINKS BEFORE HEADING FOR THE EXIT.

THERE IS TWO TAXI’S WAITING OUTSIDE AS THEY LEAVE THE CLUB.
