SCENE SIX

 

 

 

 JULIE PUTS ALL THE DRINKS ON A TRAY AND LARRY BRINGS THEM OVER TO THE TABLE.

CHEERS LARRY, EVERYONE VOICES AS HE PASSES THEM THEIR DRINKS.

 

 

DICK:

‘What you got in the next race Larry.’

 

LARRY TAKES OUT HIS PRESCRIPTION GLASSES THAT HAVE BLACK STRING ATTACHED TO THEM SO HE CAN SLIP THEM OVER HIS HEAD THEN TAKE THEM OFF WITHOUT LOSING THEM. THEN PICKS UP THE NEWSPAPER AND BEGINS SCANNING THE PAGE FOR HIS NEXT RACE.

 

LARRY:

‘Mmmorris Dancer,’ fffive to one shot.’

 

DICK:

‘What made you pick that one?

 

LARRY:

‘I jjjust loved the sssound of it.

 

ALAN:

‘Well you would wouldn’t you, with those handkerchiefs and bells.’

 

DICK:

‘Stop it Alan, he resembles that remark.’

 

LAUGHTER ERUPTS FROM THE TABLE.

 

 

THE HORSES ARE WALKED INTO THE STALLS BEFORE THE COMMENTATOR ANNOUNCES STARTERS ORDERS.

“THERE OFF AT GOODWOOD”.

 

IAN:

‘What you got in this one then Alan?

 

ALAN:

‘I’m telling no bugger because that Jonah over there will put the Spaker’s on it.’
