The Unthinkable

Aaliyah's in a perfect relationship and everything's blissful, suddenly she finds it's anything but perfect and gets thrown into an adventure and life she never could've expected. It was unthinkable.

5. Chapter Five

Aaliyah checks her phone as it made a ding noise, she frowns seeing a message from Ram. The text read, A, we need to talk. Come to my house.

The moon mage now was hanging out at Ace’s house. She left her mobile on the coffee table and walks out the front door. You’re going to use this chance to break up with him Aaliyah. Ace is right.

The ground mage pads into the room, water droplets dripping off his fur. His light green eyes lit up in surprise as he notices his friend wasn’t in the area. Where did she go? Ace picks up the phone, the message still shone on the screen. His teeth bare in a snarl. “Ram.” he forgot the door exists apparently, Ace jumps through the window. He glances at the mess. “I’ll...uh, fix it later.”

Aaliyah pauses for a few moments before knocking on the pearl-white door.

“The door is unlocked!” a familiar deep voice sounds from inside.

The girl sighs heavily before opening the entry and shutting it behind her. “Ram?”

Aaliyah fidgets as she went up the stairs, she had a bad feeling in her stomach. But, she didn’t understand why.

She enters the white bedroom, literally everything colored pure white. PURE white huh? the mage thought inwardly rolling her eyes.

The fighting mage climbs off his bed.

“Ram,” Aaliyah starts, “I want to break up.”

The boy seems to freeze, looking at her with wide eyes. “Break up? What do you mean ‘break up’?”

The girl exhales. “You know what I mean by ‘break up’. You also know why I’m breaking up with you.”

“I just magically know?” Ram questions, glaring his black orbs at her.

“I went everywhere you wanted to go, but you just couldn’t come for the Mystic Day festival. And for some reason, you didn’t want to meet my parents. You took me to a bad party. Mystic, I don’t even know why I dated you in the first place! The whole world isn’t all about you Ram!” Aaliyah huffs and puffs after her outburst.

It still shows in Ram’s pitch dark eyes; he still didn’t understand.

It made the other mage even angrier. “Do you even understand what I’m saying?! Even Ace did better than you!”

Ace. Ace? Ace! ACE!

Aaliyah didn’t know what she expected, but not Ram lashing out at her. The orange fur mage didn’t start yelling and screaming at her. Lashing out here meant the boy jumps at the moon mage and rips his claws through her ginger clothing.

She screams loudly in response.

Ace ran faster as he heard a shrill scream go through his ears. If Ram hurt her, he would murder him. The fighting mage’s house soon came into view. Ace jumps through a window, not caring for the broken glass this time.

The screeching seems to echo through the whole household, he didn’t know where to pinpoint it. Something in his gut told him to check upstairs. No matter if Ace always listens to his belly or not, he races toward the sound.

Aaliyah tries to fend off her attacker, but as he was a heavy boy and a fighting mage she wasn’t strong enough.

Without hesitation, he rams into Ram’s side sharply knocking them both over.

“Don’t you have anything better to do you filth!” the boy snarls at his intruder.

“Better than tearing you apart? No, no I don’t!”

The two began furiously fighting, trying to sink teeth into limbs and Ram often slamming hard against Ace, sending the ground mage flying into a wall.

He could feel a power buildup flowing into his legs. “I hope earthquakes aren’t a problem near your house because it’s going to be!”

Ram pauses to give him a dirty look, though not knowing what the mystic Ace was talking about.

Ace took advantage of this distraction to bite one of his wings and flung him into the air like a dough of pizza.

Now, because fighting mages couldn’t fly, Ram crashes into the floor hard. Leaving him temporarily paralyzed.

“A, if you’re still here, I’d suggest you get out of here.” Ace utters, not looking behind him.

Aaliyah silently limps downstairs. Ace waits a few moments until he heard the door close. That’s when he balances himself on two legs and pounds his front paws down harshly.

The floor began shaking violently, the roof starts to crack and creak. Ram blinks his eyes then looks up, he couldn’t move yet but he knew he needs to move before the house caves on him. He heard a window shatter, signaling Ace had thrown himself out an opening.

By the time Ram shakily got on his paws, the rooftop finally gave in and only he knows what happened next.

“Are you okay A?” Ace asks, looking over her injuries.

“Yes, I’m fine. But, how did you know where to find me?”

Ace raises an eyebrow. “You left your phone behind.”

“Oh. Right. Well, will you take me home? After I get my phone of course.”

A smile slid on Ace’s brown lips. “Of course I will.”

The whole time they walked Ace kept his gaze directed away from his friend.

“Ace? Is something wrong?” Aaliyah asks, tilting her head.

“Aaliyah, it’s not gentleman like to stare at a girl when her clothes were nearly ripped off.”

She blushes. “Oh. I’m sorry for making you uncomfortable.”

“It’s not your fault.”

A few weeks after that, Ace and Aaliyah began dating. The girl could say for sure her heart sung for real.

“A, you can’t go to the store this late at night.”

“Acey, you worry too much. I’ll be right back.” Aaliyah smiles then closes the door behind her.

The way to the store always involves going through a dark alleyway. But, it’s okay.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

She’s swift at avoiding suspicious mages anyway.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

She didn’t have much to worry about anymore.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Aaliyah gasps out in shock as her shoulders were pinned to the ground, a strong grip had forced her down. She turns her head to meet familiar eyes. Her purple ones widen. “W-What? I don’t und-understand.”

A sly smirk crosses the face occupying the black eyes. “Miss me A?”
